Chapter 28 by AliC AliC

So, back the show.

Results

Leah stretched and yawned as she waited from the poll results to come in. The girls had been sent off on their assignments, which meant it was time to close her popularity poll and give her first report.

She was a personality, not an accountant. She was aware that some sort of proprietary formula was in place; something that averaged the contestants' raw scores, while weighting the best and worst girl votes. But she didn't pretend to understand it. She also didn't care. More than anything, she was excited to simply relax and let her proverbial hair down for a bit.

She slipped out of her dress and kicked it aside, and then stepped out of her heels. Briefly, she considered flats, then decided not to bother. She decided not to bother on a bra, either. In addition to being comfortable, she wanted to present a new side of herself; something more casual, and at least closer to (if not exactly representative of) the actual woman behind the host. To this end, she selected a snug pair of yoga pants, and a t-shirt that was just loose enough to appear casual, and just tight enough to emphasize her breasts and midriff.

This done, the final readout of the ranking was ready. Leah read them over.

"Interesting..." She mused.

1. Farra - 122.62
2. Lindsey - 119.77
3. Megan - 112.05
4. AJ - 106.36
5. Emily - 104.18
6. ExeQT - 101.98
7. Loretta - 99.3
8. Hannah - 96.12
9. Julie - 91.63
10. Rachel - 85.37
11. Ryan - 82.85

Leah reviewed the results, then toyed with the recording device she'd been given. It was meant to convey her thoughts, wishes, rationale or anything else she wanted her own production overlords to hear. A distant lot, were the producers; their stated policy to intervene or directly reach out only when something had gone seriously awry or a course correction was needed. When she'd fucked up, essentially.

So far, so good, in that regard; though their silence was as ominous as it was a good sign.

Leah composed herself, took a breath to gather her thoughts, then began her report.

"So we've made it through the introduction. And I only had to cook one of my hens to do it," She said. God this felt weird. "The loss of Amelia was unfortunate in one way. She did provide an interesting presence as Jake's committed rival. But it also proved instructive. The ladies have behaved themselves much better since I made an example of one, and it was a good show of ****. They know what's awaiting them if they don't give it their all."

Leah reviewed the results.

"Of the remaining contestants, we finally have rankings. Best Girl goes to Farra, along with 5 Victory points. Truthfully, I can't say I'm surprised. The woman's charming, and she was gifted with one of the most intriguing transformations of the lot of them. I suspect Lindsey's change contributed to her positive reception as well, particularly the zeal with which she embraced them. Quite little firecracker, that one. I was skeptical of bringing her in, but she's proving an interesting addition. She gets Runner Up, along with 3 Victory Points."

"Megan is quite the little dark horse, though. I confess that I didn't see that one coming. So far she's been rather solitary and reserved. Tough I suppose the cute nerd thing has its charms to some. In fact, most of the pushback she did get was because of her relationship to the game's Master. Regardless, Bronze Counts For Something on our reward chart, and she gets 1 Victory Point."

Leah flipped to the summary graphs as she continued.

"A single Victory Point also goes to Miss Divisive, the player who received the most votes in both the positive and negative," She said. "That title belongs to Exe. I can't say I'm surprised. She is the heel, but that's the sort of distinction means being loved as well as hated. What's curious was how similarly polarizing Hannah was, though she had enough neutral responses that her ranking suffered a good deal more for it."

"Loretta and Julie surprised me. 53% of Julie's responses were neutral, along with 43% of Loretta's. For comparison's sake, the next closest was only 35%. I will confess that neither woman has done much, but when we gave their backstories to our focus group, the results were very positive," Leah mused. "I suspect they'll come around as we go. They're both interesting, mature women who bring a competitive spirit to the contest."

"That leaves our bottom dwellers; Rachel and Ryan. Ryan...poor bastard. I suspect certain hard truths about her situation are beginning to dwell on her. Even beyond her own performance, a number of our audience seem to oppose a genderbent candidate altogether. I suspect she'll need a very strong performance to hang around for long."

Leah paused, and stopped the recording to consider her next point.

"Rachel represents part of our my remaining concerns, along with that roommate of hers. AJ is trouble. She's a rabble rouser, and a disconcertingly popular one at that. In fact, most of the objections to her seemed to be in her transformations rather than her conduct. For those of you keeping score at home, and I know you are, that means our audience dislikes what we've done to her, but appreciate what she's doing to us. A dangerous combination."

Leah considered mentioning her brief concern that AJ was going to hit her back in the initial transformation round. Instead, she decided a display of honest was in order rather than weakness.

"For what it's worth, I rather admire her."

Leah stretched. Her monologue to an unanswering plastic device was getting tiresome, and she had more productive business she wanted to get about to.

"Anyway, I'm off to go visit my second cause for concern. I plan to spend the transformation round getting to know our Master a bit better," She said. "I want to feel him out, and see where stands on all this."

She sighed.

"Next time, try not send me such a bloody boy scout, eh?" She said. "I wish you'd have given me Loretta's husband to deal with. He certainly has a healthy enough stable of consorts, and he might actually enjoy himself enough to fucking indulge me a little bit. With this one....well, there are certainly chinks in the armor, but we may have to resort to some stealth alterations to him along with the contestants. Personally, I hope it doesn't come to that. Hopefully, this visit will bare a little fruit in that regard."

"Anyway...this is your host. Leah out."

She turned off her recorder, and began making her way to the Master's Suite.
