Respect Grace's decision and say nothing

You knew the town was getting more and more dangerous, and Grace would be risking her life to stay. But you respected her decision, so you didn’t say anything and just quietly nodded. If Melissa were here, you knew she might have agreed with you.

That being said, you would like to know what May was thinking and what she would do. So you looked at her calmly.

"We'll talk about this with George later. He will be worried if you stay." May's hands slightly trembled as she spoke.

"I know. But I have to." Grace nodded.

"You... could've just compelled her to leave with you." You said in a low tone. You couldn't say you had expected what she had just said.

"With that implication, Mr. Wilson, who do you think is the evil one here? She's my family, not my thrall." May restated her point of view while rolling her eyes at you. "I'm afraid that I have nothing more to talk to you about, and I would like to ask you to leave." She stood up and reached out her hand casually, just like a human who wanted to say goodbye to her friend.

You got up from the chair, and hesitated for a moment before you shook hands with her. Her hand was cold and slender, but you could definitely feel the vampiric strength in it. You were not as afraid of her as you were when she first revealed what she was, but you still had a lingering fear as you pulled away as soon as possible.

"I don't know if I should say goodbye to you... to a vampire..." You said when you looked into her eyes. You couldn't believe that you actually wanted to know more about this not-so-evil vampire.

"Then don't. I know I don't really want to see you again." May just smiled elegantly, sat down, and continued her reading.

You left the bookshop. Standing in the quiet street alone, you felt like years had passed since you entered. You took a deep breath and finally felt relieved.
