Resist

"Get off me and get out." The countess freezes for a couple seconds and then makes to move one of her hands from your chest to your face.

"I'm so s-"

"Get out!" You snap, nearly losing control and shouting in the middle of the otherwise silent night. You don't so much shove her as slam both palms into her rib cage, underneath her breasts. You scold yourself inwardly for not having a knife under your pillow, but then again, that's what royal guards are supposed to be for. A grunt bursts out of Marissa and she lands on her back awkwardly, her ass still resting on your crotch and her legs tenting forward. You haul yourself backward and to the side quickly and hop off the bed. The sound resulting from you yanking your sword from its scabbard on the nightstand is apparently enough to get the attention of the two guards who let Marissa into your room.

"Your grace?" Idiots. You glare at Marissa. It's clear she'd now like to obey your command, but she's unsure as to whether she'll be skewered if she moves.

"Leave." You rasp at the woman. She flees the room, which leaves you standing in your boxers, sword in hand, with two guards who are slowly realizing that they've fucked up very, very badly, though they don't truly understand how. You dress in silence while the pair look around and fidget anxiously.

"Take me to the captain's proxy." The guards answer in the affirmative and head down the corridors with you, one in front, one behind, somehow knowing that saying anything would make you angrier. When you find his room you enter without knocking and waken him. To his credit he does react quickly. You make sure the door is firmly closed once he's dressed.

"These two just let Countess Loon into my bedroom. We don't know how she ended up getting possessed or if it could happen again, which means they shouldn't have done that. Also, sleeping with another man's wife is a great way to encourage regicide. And on a personal note," You finish sardonically, "I try not to shit on other peoples' marriages. You didn't pick them to come with us so I'm not going to hold you responsible, but you need to figure out who has the best judgement out of those who came with us and assign them to guard me now." You turn to the subordinates, who are now wearing matching expressions of terror, and continue. "You're each getting fifteen lashes in private when we get back to the capital." One of the two swallows convulsively while the other just stares at you, his face shifting subtly from terror to horror. You turn back to the captain's proxy. He's doing a better job of containing his emotions, but not by much. He's also leaning towards horror, and there might a little disgust mixed in.

"I won't- we won't fail you again, your grace. Thank you." He understands full well that you could've had his subordinates beheaded, and flogging them out of the public eye means their reputations won't be utterly destroyed. For that matter, you could've had him whipped too. You nod sharply and stalk back to your room. Alone.
