Reptilian Complications: Page 1

For a moment, I stared back at the eye. It bored into me, expressing a depthless anger I couldn't even begin to comprehend. Then it moved.

The beast leapt into the air, sending me tumbling me into the water. A flash of red appeared over me, and a second later Samara was yanking me out of the water into the air with her. I spit out a mouthful of water and looked up at dragon.

From its mouth came a bolt of brilliant lighting, striking the water I had been in a few moment ago. Had Samara not pulled me out, I would have fried.

The dragon spun around, presumably searching for us. Its back and tail were covered in those treasures, making every movement clink and rattle.

"Servants of Vatrus, come to bind me in his service again?? Show yourselves, and your **** will be swift."

Samara set me down by the side of the water, hurriedly whispering in my ear.

"Distract him so I can do the ritual. Don't die."

I felt the winds of her Flight spell flow around me, and jumped into the sky.

"Hey, ass face, over here!"

Admittedly not my best insult, but it did the job. He turned to me, and I got my first look at his face. It was as much as I expected, but the eyes, they confused me. Just a minute ago, I saw them, bright green with large diamond shaper pupils. Now they were just white.

"Stupid fiend. I'll bring your head to your master after I kill you."

He flapped his wings, charging towards me. I was barely saved by a last minute leap upwards. I shot forwards, over the dragons back.

"Wow, you're as blind as a bat."

There was a whooshing sound, like a whip just before it cracks, and before I could react, the dragon's tail wrapped around my waist.

"Shit."

The dragon flung me through the air, and I crashed into the rocky ground below. The flight spell slightly cushioned my fall, but it still hurt like hells.

I pushed myself up, jumping back into the air. The dragon seemed to have forgotten me, turning his attention to Samara preparing the spell. He flew above her, opening his jaw for a another burst of lighting breath.

I panicked, shooting forward as fast as I could. Just before he unleashed a torrent of electricity at her, I pointed a finger at him. Brilliant white light streaked from my finger, coalescing in a tiny marble of light in the dragons mouth.

Instantly, the minuscule ball of light erupted into a massive sphere of fire, engulfing the dragon's head in flames.

When the smoke cleared, the entirety of its head and neck were blackened and burned, except for the patches of red muscle that were now exposed.

"Foolish demons!"

He let out a roar so loud I felt it shake the earth. The ground shook under me, cracks spreading like spiderwebs. The dragon raised his tail up, and brought it down hard. Hard enough to complete destroy the ground. Before I knew it, I was falling, plummeting into some sort of cave.

I landed on my back, about 60 feet (18.3m) below where I was standing. It seems a part of the mountain top was just over a massive air bubble somehow. The walls of the cave were covered in yellow and purple crystals, like the inside of a geode.

I stood up, grateful to have landed on top of the rubble and not the other way around. I jumped. But I guess the Flight spell was over.

There was a shift in the rubble a few dozen feet from me, as the dragon uncovered himself.

I backed away slowly, pressing myself against the cave wall. But he didn't look for me. He just beat his wings and flew up and out of the cave.

Towards Samara.
