Chapter 38 by The Dark Traveler The Dark Traveler

Who wins and how

Remus beats Lance (not pregnant)

The two combatants step onto the battleground, Remus is wearing his newly polished plate armour. He is armed with a short sword and shield. Lance is in his red leather armour and has his large two handed Longsword. They both approach in a fighting stance, Remus is more defensive raising his shield where Lance is more aggressive his longsword held back ready to strike and strike he does.

Lance's first blow comes down so hard on Remus's shield arm that it cracks his wrist. The pain sends a jolt down Remus's arm and he recoils back. With his shield arm damaged he drops his now useless shield. This, however, makes him more maneuverable which he needs to dodge the attacks from the more lightly armoured Lance. Remus' armour is able to take any swing of Lance's blade but the impact **** would cause serious damage by its self.

Remus is able to get a few slashes in with his short sword but all of them are parried by Lance. He does eventually get in one slash across the leg, damaging the leather armour but leaving nothing more than a scratch on Lance's scales. However, this low blow has left him **** from above.

Lance strikes down using the pommel of his blade, knocking Remus down, his helmet strap brakes and the helmet it falls off. The stress gets to Remus but this was what he was counting on. As adrenaline pumps through his body, it transforms him. Some but not all human children of beastfolk and human couplings transform when under eminence stress; they are known as werebeasts.

There were many legends about werebeasts some of it comes from them being extremely rare and different for each of the animal traits their parent displays. But some of it comes from anti-beastfolk propaganda from before they were even second class citizens. Back when all beastfolk were though as being wild savages, wilder than even barbarians, rumours said that beast fork would bite humans and turn them into werebeast or even full beastfolk. They also said that these converted humans were contagious and could spread the werebeast blood. They were also said to be mindless in the transformed state and would attack and kill even their closest friends.

The reality was that werebeast take on animalistic characteristics in times of stress as part of their fight or flight response. Their bodies transform to help them fight or run from a threat giving them greater strength, speed and agility than a normal human and if appropriate for the animal they are linked with, sharp claws or talons to fight back or springy legs or hard hooves to better run away. They do have a slight edge of most regular beastfolk as they tend to gain more animalistic qualities than the average beastfolk. A werebeast is more likely to produce werebeast children if they have children with a beastfolk but are not contagious like the myths say.

First Remus grows claws and white fur spreads over his hands and up to his elbow but this is mainly covered by his armour. His limbs extend making him taller. Internally his limbs have become more powerful. He is able to utilize his already large muscles more efficiently due to a transformation in the nerve endings. Fired and clawed paws burst from his simple leather shoes ripping them apart. the white hair on his head grows in length and he gains a long beard. His mouth extends and he gains new rows of canines keeping the rest of his human teeth. His eyes get larger and his ears become more pointed and grow hair but stay on the side of his head. The rest of his face stays fairly human.

The transformation is quick but painful he lets out a cry that transforms from an 'ow' to a howl as his face structure changes. "Arroowwwooooooooooooooooooooooo" he cries. He drops his sword as it is hard to grip with his clawed hands. With his shield hand still by his side due to his previous injury, he starts to slash at Lance with his new claws. He is less than mindless, using his new found agility to slice through the straps that holds Lance's leather armour on. While this is happening, Lance is trying to keep Remus at bay with his longsword. He loses his breastplate exposing his plain shirt underneath but then position his sword to keep Remus out of clawing range.

They circle for a bit Lance trying to strike at Remus on his now exposed areas due to the extension of his limbs he avoids the head as he knows this is supposed to be non-lethal. If he can get his ankles or the one usable wrist then Remus would be **** to surrender as he could no longer fight. However, Remus soon proves to be too quick in his new form and soon is able to out circle Lance and claw his unprotected back then down his tail. Lance Cries out in pain. Knowing he is beaten he then lowers his sword and surrenders to Remus.

Remus accepts his surrender still in his Werebeast form proving once and for all that he was not a savage beast but a rational man with a bit extra if it came down to it. His transformation back was slower and less painful as his body slowly stopped producing adrenaline; being in werebeast form was great in a life or **** situation but the form was impractical for day to day activity as shown with the sword. Maybe this was why it was linked to adrenaline.

Winning in the first round earn you a title and the right to compete in the next few rounds to determine what slice of land you got. Due to the manner of Remus's victory the obvious title to give him would be Remus the Lupus first of the Lupus family.

Who is in the next fight?
