"Huh? Come on, let's shake on it." Lupin says.

"I'm sorry." I say.

"What are you apologising to me for?"

"I can't go with you."

"Huh? How can you reject me after all that?!"

"I'm back home to wait for Frankenstein."

"Wait, wait! You're better off with me! Think it over!"

"You say that you are my captor, so I shouldn't trust you." I say. "I already knew from the moment I saw you that I couldn't trust you."

"I see. That's definitely a valid point." Lupin says. "Now hold on! Are you going to end this before it begins?"

"Goodbye, Lupin." I turn and leave the stunned thief behind as I walk off.

I return to the mansion to wait for Frankenstein.

After nearly a week, she still hasn't returned.

I leave to look for her.

The fields go on as far as I can see, and the sun is shining brightly. This journey is mine, and mine alone, and it has only just begun.
