Reed Wants What Sue Has

Reed Richards worked through the night. Contacting all of his allies. Already, he knew what his wife and Porkum had been up to. The superheroines they had suborned with Porkum's power. Those would be relatively easy enough to isolate and treat. His wife was the real problem. Especially with Doctor Doom's involvement.

Which left one audacious plan.

"Yer sure about this stretch?" Ben Grimm's face was a mask of concern. "I mean, I ain't a big brain like you, but I can see a million ways this can go wrong."

"It's the only way, Ben," Reed said as he prepared a pair of tube-like devices. In one lay the body of what looked very much like Sue Storm. "I actually planned for contingencies like this. If one of us should be subverted, there had to be a way for us to deal with the corrupted or brainwashed member. And if one of us were to die...they had to be replaced."

"Yeah, but...transferring yer brain into a clone of Susie?" The Thing scratched his stony head.

"It's perfect. With Sue's powers, I can infiltrate Four Freedoms Plaze, replace Sue. You and Johnny can take her for treatment, while I find a way to deal with Porkum and Doom."

Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm exchanged glances.

"But...if Susie succumbed to his pheromone powers, ain't that gonna make you just as ****?" Ben said.

"Really, Ben," Reed said, as he stepped into the tube. "You think I haven't thought of that? Please, just press the button."

The operation itself was swift. Targeted teleportation. Lights flickered in the two tubes. Reed Richard's facial features suddenly went slack...and the cloned body of the blonde bombshell fluttered her eyelids. One demure hand rose to open the tube, and the spitting image of Sue Storm stepped forth. Only it was Reed Richard's cold intelligence that looked out from her eyes.

"For now, gentlemen," she said. "You may call me—Mrs. Fantastic."

Invisible, Mrs. Fantastic carefully accessed one of the hidden secure entrances to the Baxter Building. The costume was a little tighter than she imagined it would be; her center of gravity in this body lower, and parts jiggling in odd places. Once or twice, she caught herself trying to stretch her body, but in this cloned form he didn't have his powers—only Sue's.

It would have to be enough.
