Does anyone contest the Wasp's ownership of the Invisible Woman?
Reed Richards Wonders What Happened To His Wife
Jennifer Walters, the She-Hulk, knew before Reed Richards did.
Matt Murdock, Daredevil, knew before Reed Richards did.
The lawyers arrived at the Baxter Building to discuss the matter.
"Janet van Dyne is paying me on behalf of Susan Storm Richards to file for divorce," Jen said. "And technically client confidentiality applies, but I think Jan's pulled a page from her ex-husband's book, because when she hired me Sue Storm's face was buried in her crotch."
"I won't report you for disciplinary review," Matt said. "But it does form a pretty problem. There isn't anything technically illegal about a lesbian affair, unless we can prove that Sue is being influenced in some way."
Reed Richards rubbed his jaw. He wondered where his wife had been the last week. When the kids had asked, he told them that she was out on a mission for S.H.I.E.L.D., but that no longer appeared to be the case.
"Let's try to handle this civilly," he said. "But without another civil war. A wellness check on Sue, and I'll discuss things with Jan. We can arrange that, certainly?"
Jennifer glanced at Murdock, who didn't glance back. When she realized why, she pinched the bridge of her nose. It was so easy to forget sometimes that he was blind.
"I can ask," Jen said.
Janet was dressed in a business suit, seated at the crystal table. Hank Pym was seated to her left; Sue Storm was in a pink silk robe to her right, holding Jan's hand. Reed had brought Georgia Jenkins, the Night Nurse, to handle the wellness check; the lawyers sat in the middle of the table.
"If you try to take her," Janet van Dyne said. "I won't let you."
"Just a wellness check," Reed said. "And a few questions."
Janet frowned. She glanced at Hank, who tapped the table. Glowing blue circuits appeared.
"No advanced technology," he said. "Reed's clean."
"You can use the bedroom," Janet said, nodding.
The Night Nurse stood up, as did Sue Storm, and the pair exited the room. Reed waited until the door was shut before he asked.
"What happened, Janet? This isn't like you," he said.
The petite brunette's dark eyes were cold as she stared at Mister Fantastic.
"A villain took advantage of her. Abused her. Sexually. While you were out traipsing across the multiverse," Janet van Dyne said. "I saved her. And I'm not going to let her go back to a situation where her abuse was missed, overlooked, and ignored!"
The words hit Reed Richards like physical blows. His eyes widened. This was not what he expected.
"I see," he said. "There is the matter of the children."
"We can arrange visitation rights," Janet said.
"Would you be willing to consider an alternative arrangement?" Reed asked. "If Sue agrees, of course."
What kind of alternative arrangement does Reed Richards have in mind?
