Chapter 3 by Bigbop38 Bigbop38

Who are you?

Red

Word from the author; This branch will be focusing on a male POV rather than that of Amber. Several male characters will be gender-bent to female, such as Blue and most of the male gym leaders(excluding Giovanni). Thanks to MooMoo for giving me the go ahead on this. I will also be sticking mostly to Generation I Pokémon, not because I am a “Gen one-er”, but just for simplicity’s sake. Also keep in mind I said “mostly”. Last note, I will probably reference Pokémon’s stats on occasion, like Onix having a pitiful attack stat and such. Enjoy!

Edit: We’re over 150 chapters in now. The first few chapters are a little rough, but I promise it gets better :P No matter how far we get though, likes and comments are super appreciated, even on older chapters. If I’m still using this site, I’ll do my best to respond. Thank you to those who choose to read my branch!

You groan as your alarm clock blares at you. Time to get up and… and start your first day as a Pokémon trainer! This sudden realization fills you with a burst of energy as you leap out of bed and shut up your alarm clock. Today is the day you will get your first Pokémon from Professor Oak and finally start walking the path you believe is your destiny. The path of a Champion.

You quickly go through your morning hygiene routine and throw on the outfit you had set out last night. As you pick up your backpack and pull on your hat, you take a moment to inspect yourself in the mirror. You are 6 feet tall, in fairly good shape, with short medium brown hair and brown eyes. You are relatively good looking, if a bit plain, dressed in simple blue jeans and a white T-shirt. After nodding at yourself in the mirror, you rush down the stairs to the kitchen where your mother was busy cooking breakfast.

Your Mom, Madison, is a lovely woman in her late thirties. She has the same brown hair and eyes as you, though her hair goes down past her shoulders and is currently tied back in a ponytail. She’s wearing some simple blue jeans and a white blouse, covered by a pink apron. She spins to look at you as you come down stairs, smiling brightly.

“Ah! You actually got out of bed on time today! I wonder if something has you excited today, hm?” Mom teases.

“Couldn’t imagine what.” You respond with a dry smirk. Mom smiles at you warmly, then goes about setting the table.

“I’ve prepared a big breakfast for my Champ-to-be, so I hope you’re hungry!” You begin wolfing down whatever she puts in front of you; eggs, bacon, pancakes, it’s a feast! You end up eating more than you probably should have, but it will probably be a while before you can have Mom’s cooking again.

“Don’t **** now dear. That would hardly be a good way to start off your journey.” She chides.

“Sorry, it’s just so good! And I need to leave soon if I want first pick on my starter.”

“I assume you also want to start getting in girl’s pants as soon as you can too, hm?” You squirm in slight discomfort at your mother’s words.

She isn’t wrong. Being able to have your way with any woman you beat in a battle is a huge drive for many trainers both male and female, and the biggest boon granted to the Champion of the Indigo Plateau is having all female gym leaders from Kanto and Johto at your beck and call since the two regions share one league. That is the ultimate goal of any true trainer. It’s just awkward to discuss this with your mother.

Sensing your discomfort, her expression softens. “Sweetie, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. But I know exactly what new trainers tend to look forward to. I was one! I know what you’re going to be doing, and there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s how life is. Can you promise me something though?”

“Promise you what?”

“Remember that those girls are people too. Try and at least be kind to them. For me.” The earnest look on her face leaves you with only one real option as an answer.

“I promise, Mom.”

“Thank you. Now, on your way! Don’t be late. I love you and I’ll be rooting for you!”

“Love you too!”
