Finally his honor the mayor called the assembled party to their seats. Miss Quangh left for her's and I finally started to relax inside. Making a mental note to myself to check on her tomorrow before going out for duty, I waited for our entrees to arrive. Finally a plate of vegetables, rubber chicken and what they called potatoes surrounded by a parsnip colee was set in front of Cartier and myself. I'm shocked when Cartier leans in and whispers to me "I usually go for a burger of a slice afterwards, care to join me?"

"Whispering back "Would it be impolite to phone and order now, for delivery here?" we both start giggling. Lifting our forks to begin, I can't help but notice Quangh making quick glances our way, every time I catch her my creep factor goes up a notch. As the mayor starts his speech I listen while playing with my vegetables. Finally he comes to the reason why I'm stuck here.

"And Ladies and gentlemen it's with great pride and honor that i introduce Humdinger City's newest Criminal Enforcement officer Miss Carly Graspper!" Around of applause and motioning from Mayor Collins greets my bewildered senses. Under the table Cartier nudges my leg and while whispering "Stand up and accept their applause!" Like an dutiful officer I do as he says and I can feel everyone's eyes on me.

"Miss Graspper is a newly promoted officer to our **** who been assigned to my newest pet project of the pedophile squad!" He stops to take a sip of his drink before continuing "And I have to say she's done a bang up job so far!" More applause and some whistles as i sit back down.

Finally desserts are being served about the outer rim of the hall. As our waiter makes his way over to us, his tray suddenly is on the floor and a look of horror comes over his face. His left fist flies to his mouth as he turns and bolts out of the room. After that everything runs smooth and soon Cartier and i are in the nearest pizza shop sharing a meat lover's special between us. "I wonder what was up with the dessert waiter?" Cartier doesn't make a reply
