JIYUU had been producing Reality TV shows in Japan since its creation in 2015. These came in a variety of formats, but with one common denominator: nudity. Regardless of the specific dynamics and setting of each program, their ultimate goal was always to strip, and often humiliate, the participants for the enjoyment of the audience.

With the company’s worldwide expansion of 2020, and their subsequent interest in attracting foreign subscribers, JIYUU announced their intentions of creating reality shows in English and with international participants.

Many people in Japan received the news with skepticism, fearing that these global productions would succumb to Western puritanism and lose the bold wackiness that made their Japanese products so special and beloved. They were soon proven wrong.
