Raid preparations

It took two weeks for the scouts to return and report back. The cave they lived in was far away from any civilization. Until now, Kazex had appreciated this, as it meant peace and quiet for him and his brood. But now they urgently needed towns or villages from which they could abduct women capable of giving birth.

Two targets caught the scouts' eyes. Not too far from here, about a two-day walk, there was a small village. The scouts could make out about 250 villagers of which about 65 fit into the category to solve the problem of offspring. The villagers were simple farmers, a blacksmith, and maybe two or three traders. No walls, guns or soldiers. Just simple people with pitchforks.

The second target was the next bigger town, Ishmael. It was four days away and in a different league. Walls, infrastructure, and a castle with soldiers. It was not yet a capital, but at least it was home to about 3,000 townsfolk. It had no real army, but the baron who lived in the castle had his own small private army of about 30 men who kept the castle and town under their control.

It was more dangerous, but a victory in this town would more than solve the supply and birth issue. It would be the step towards a goblin empire. An empire that Kazex would call his own, no matter the cost.

If Kazex started putting everything into the preperation for war, they would be ready for battle in three years. By then, they would have about 60 battle-ready tribe members. The only question is which of the two targets he should take?
