Races

Humans-

Humanity is by far the most numerous race in the world. They also have the most varied cultures and several Kingdoms while the other races are far more united in their causes. They also have a high amount of sexual compatibility...being able to breed with just about anything that's humanoid.

Amazons(created and written by dearnise)

Not much is known in Motania about how these particular group of humans came about. No archaeological expedition has ever been done, or at least have the team return home with their research. What is known from the tales of those that have survived their raids, is that the Amazon women are some of the strongest, fiercest warriors on the battlefield. They also appear to make fantastic sailors, particularly on the unforgiving open seas--a feat that seems to be matched only by the sailors of Al-Anashab. Few survivors, so far, have been able to accurately sketch or draw the images of these strong, yet very feminine women. An even smaller amount of survivors have written or verbally told tales of their passion for sex, and the amount of freedom they have in having sex, compared to the people of Motania. Few accounts of their religion is known, but some believe that their religion is based on an ancient pantheon of gods, led by some kind of goddess that fuels their passion for love and battle. Recently, few accounts of these Amazon women have reached Itheria, telling a bit more about their culture on their tropical islands, and why the women seem to be quite picky about their sex partners. What cannot be denied, is their battle skills, seemingly able to match the Elves with their archery skills, and the elite warriors of Motania with their ability to handle a wide range of weapons, especially the spear.

Elves-

Elves are naturally reclusive, but that doesn't mean that they're rare. Their Kingdom maintains an isolationist view, but it's not uncommon to see adventurous elves out and exploring the world. Their people are pleasing to the eye and very adept at magic.

  • The Dark Elves(created and written by dearnise)

Few ancient books tell of how these Dark Elves came to be, but all of them tell very ancient stories of a rebellious group of High Elves that worshipped ancient dark gods, particularly a "Spider Goddess" named Llothera. When these rebels were defeated, they were banished to the underworld, never to see the light of the stars and the moons again. Instead of dying off, these exiled Elves adapted to life underground, incorporating things learned or taken from the Dwarves, building cities in deep caves. To adapt to underground life, the color of their skin evolved to a dark, ebon color, while the color of their hair changed to shades of white and gray. Their eye color tend to be in shades of red, although some have exhibited other colors. Much like the Dwarves and Humans of Al-Anashab, they have perfected the use of the crossbow, favoring one-handed versions equipped with sleeping poison bolts. They also match their surface counterparts in the use of magic. Each Dark Elven house is ruled by a Matron Mother, while a Matriarch--usually the Matron Mother of the top house--rules over an entire Dark Elven settlement.

Goblins-

Goblins are short, squat humanoids who rival Humans as the most numerous race in the world. They have grey or green skin(or somewhere in between) and are known for being ruthless and violent. They're carnivores and when food runs short will often cull their own kind for food. This cannibalistic nature has become a stigma on goblinkind and rarely are they welcomed willingly into Human society. Because of this, Goblins often stick to small tribal settlements that dot just about every region in the world. Despite their savagery, they're strangely progressive terms of gender equality. A female goblin will have just as many opportunities within their own tribe as long as they're capable enough and female goblin Chieftains are nearly as common as their male counterparts. They're also quite dexterous; often being able to use their feet just as skillfully as their hands. On top of that, they're quite skilled at climbing and can find climbable surfaces that other humanoids wouldn't be capable of traversing.

Beastfolk-

The beastfolk are a wide and varied race. It's unclear about how their people began, but they're not too different from a human...outside of having animal features like a tail or ears. They can even breed with humans with half the children being beastfolk and the other half being human. They're uncommon, but mostly integrated into human society. Despite this, in most places they're treated as second-class citizens, or worse. It's only been during the last few generations that Itheria has allowed them more rights in society. There are more insidious forms of beastfolk such as the Snakefolk, but they rarely come out of their holes.

Demons-

demons aren't so much a race as they are manifestations of an idea. Usually this idea revolves around sowing chaos and corruption. They're inhumanly powerful and fast and typically are adept at magic. They come from the abyss and most of their motivations involve power plays, or simply alleviating their boredom. Many of them have the ability to change their form and have the capability to reproduce with just about any race...Although they rarely see any use in such a task and can alter their bodies to be fertile or infertile depending on what they wish.

Dragons-

Dragons are large, intelligent, firebreathing(or ice...or lightning...there's a lot of different things they can breathe, okay?) and incredibly dangerous. On top of their brawn and brains, they also have a lot of skill in magic. They start quite small at birth, but can grow nearly indefinitely. The largest of dragons can threaten whole kingdoms with nothing more than their gargantuan size. Fortunately, their greed and lust means that they typically get slain before they can become that large. They often hoard money and harems and are infamous for it. On top of their dangerous nature, they also have the capability to breed with just about anything and can use magic to disguise themselves if they feel like being subtle(which they rarely do). However, unlike Demons, they don't have an off switch. This means that half-dragons are common in regions infested with them.****

  • Dragon-Kin-

Dragon-kin(or Half-dragons) aren't exactly their own species. They are the child of a dragon and another(usually intelligent) race. Although really, any person or creature with dragon features are referred to as Dragon-Kin whether they are truly half-dragons or somewhere in between. Dragon-kin retain features of their dragon-ancestry. These features can vary from case to case. full-body scales, patches of scales, claws, vestigial wings, slit eyes...etc. The more dragon blood one has, the more dragon-like their features.

Giants(created by Actiaeon)-

Living almost exclusively in the north of the continent of Motania, and rarely seen any where in the southern lands. Giants are a race of powerful, muscular and bearded creatures, having twice the height and girth of ordinary humans (average over 10 feet tall.) They are warlike but also have a fondness for mead and brawling. Only male, Giants are generally unable to reproduce and increase their numbers, giants are said to be born from the cold winds of the north. Giants are generally strong and aggressive and have the reputation of being impeccable fighters. Despite their warlike culture, they too cultivate families and are not without emotions, similar to humans. Their attitude towards other races is somewhat condescending, believing that they are the superior beings, particularly when it comes to strength and fighting. Giants sometimes pair with a female of some other race and produce a Half-giant child, a very rare occurrence.

Half-giants are generally take the shape of their mothers race but are extremely large, being anywhere from 7 to 8 feet tall with proportional bodies to match. While they are not the same size as their father they inherit almost equal strength. They can be both male and female and any descendants tend to retain some trait of giant blood.

Of course, this isn't a comprehensive list of races. Feel free to make your own to fit your own story progression as long as it doesn't conflict with the above.
