Chapter 16

What's next?

Questionable loyalty

"Tell me, Desiderata." Chavera began, raising an eyebrow in interest. "Which of those lucky ladies did you lay with?"

"MOM!"

"I'm just curious." Chavera stated, "I have a feeling that it was that tiefling and then that woman with the headband and necklace, right?"

"Okay, first off, I'm straight!"

"... Well, half your siblings are in for quite a surprise."

"Secondly," Desiderata continued, "someone already has feelings for Talrach, and Tara already has a girlfriend in her world."

"... 'Her world'?" Chavera asked, bringing a finger to her chin. "I have heard rumors about priests summoning a warrior from another world to -"

"That's Tara."

"So, then you left to be a member of her party to overthrow Intectus, am I correct?"

"Exactly."

"Ah, yes. So this leads me to my final question..." Chavera said as she stood in front of her daughter and placed her hands on Desiterata's shoulders... before giving them a shake with a nervous expression. "Have you gone mad?! You know that we succubi and incubi stay out of wars for a reason!"

"Mom! We can’t just live in terror forever!" Desiterata said as she got out of her mother’s grip. "What if one day, the gods forbid, Intectus decided to wipe out succubi and incubi from existence?!"

"But don't you remember what happened to your -"

"Dad would've have wanted someone to stand up for our people!" Desiderata said, narrowing her eyes sternly. "And you know that's true."

"..." Chavera sighed, shaking her head. "I have been understanding when you said that you didn't agree with our lifestyle. But..." she sighed, "I can't lose my youngest before she even reaches her hundreds. You're only sixty-five!"

"Yes, sixty-five. Not twenty-five." Desiderata said, "I'm not a child anymore. I can take care of myself."

"I know you can, it's just..." Chavera said, letting out a sigh before hugging her daughter briefly. "Just promise me you’ll be careful."

"I will." Desiderata said as she broke the hug and began to walk out of the tent.

"Oh, and just one more thing?" Chavera asked, causing Desiderata to turn around. "That Integra woman? Is... She's not single, is she?"

"MOTHER!"

"Oooh! They're so freaking adorable!" Talrach exclaimed as she hugged the neck of a large lizard like creature as one of Desiderata's sisters held the rope.

Nearby, Lucile sighed as she stared at the tiefling, Tara standing next to her as she thought about the future that The Orb of Revealing had shown.

"Something must have happened that caused Lucile to go ballistic on Talrach like that." Tara thought, "And after Chavera made a move on Integra like that, there's no way the other future visions weren't true. But... Maybe they can be stopped?"

Clearing her throat, Tara turned to Lucile. "So, Lucy? How long have you had the hots for Talrach?"

"How long have I what?"

"You know, how long have you loved her?"

Lucile blinked for a few minutes before huffing and giving a small glare at Talrach. "At least someone can pick up on it..."

"Oh, not good!" Tara thought before saying, "You know, before I first started dating my girlfriend, Abby, she had this beautiful laugh that I always wanted to hear. So, to let her know I was interested in her, I tried giving her some corny and cheesy pick-up lines."

"You picked up lines of what?" Lucile asked in confusion.

"No, no. I mean I said things that were flirty and made her laugh." Tara explained, "For example, and this one was her favorite: Hey, Babe! Was your daddy an astronaut? Because you're out of this world."

"... ... ... What the hell is an 'astronaut'?"

"Okay, bad example." Tara said sheepishly, clearing her throat again. "How about this: Hey, do you believe in love at first sight? No? Hold on, let me go by again."

"Oh, I get it. It's telling a joke while telling the person your interest in them. Let me try!" Lucile said as she cleared her throat, "Hey, Talrach. I love you. Want me to show you how much by inviting you into my bed?"

"... ... Okay, we're going to work on that some more before you're ready."

In a white flash of light, Integra, Clarisse, and Collette appeared in the forest, having teleported from the tower with the help of the magic ring.

"Finally!" Collette exclaimed, looking around. "Where are we?!"

"The Eastern Forest, I'd wager." Integra said, "A three day walk to Emperor Intectus' castle."

"Look!" Clarisse whispered as she pointed to the light of a fire coming from the treeline. "They set up camp! And that means," she smirked evilly as her hands began to crackle with electricity, "it's payback time!"

"Don't be too hasty!" Integra scolded, "Unless I missed my guess, that camp looks way too big for six -"

"Seven." Clarisse corrected as she begrudgingly powered down.

"Seven people." Integra finished, "Assuming that your mystery woman exists. In any case, that camp will be crawling with succubi and incubi!"

"Well, what do you suggest we do?" Collette asked in annoyance.

"Camp for tonight and then track them in the morning." Integra said as she walked into the woods.

"Where are you going?" Clarisse asked.

"I just need to... Take care of something, real quick." Integra said as she disappeared into the woods.

"Ah, let her go!" Collette said, "I'll set up the tent and you go grab the firewood. Hope you can sleep tonight without your little bunny rabbit..."

"You leave Ms. Flopsy out of this!" Clarisse barked as she stomped off. Giving one last look at her older sister's diaper, she snarked, "And big talk coming from someone who's still in toilet training at twenty-nine!"

"For the last time, I am fully toilet trained! I just have a smaller bladder than the two of you!" Collette growled, her face red in a mixture of anger and embarrassment. "What the hell is your excuse when you wet yourself whenever you're scared?!"

"Ah! Food!" Helena shouted excitedly as the dwarf woman dug into the chicken that had been sat in front of her, Emily and Integra looking on in disgust.

"Where is that all going?" Integra asked.

CROAK! CROAK! CROAK!

Integra looked up to see a raven perched up on top of a tent, gesturing towards the treeline. Integra smirked before excusing herself and walking in the saw direction the raven was flying in.

"Helena, does something feel off about this?" Emily asked.

"Yeah. Too dry." Helena commented as she took a swig of water from her mug.

"Not the food! Integra!" Emily hissed. "Think about it. She just so happens to appear when we're ready to start the quest, she just so happens to have a way that we can shorten the length of our quest to three days. Doesn't this strike you as odd?"

"You don't trust her?"

"Not... Completely." Emily said, "I know she's helping us, but this is all highly suspicious..."

"I hope you realize how close you came to giving everything away." Integra scolded the raven as the came to a clearing, the raven transforming into the second Integra.

"Save the speech, Sister." The Second Integra said, narrowing her eyes. "Especially when one of my idiots caught sight of you with The Chosen One! Getting buddy-buddy with her, are we?"

"Oh please!" The First Integra scoffed, "I'm merely lulling them into a false sense of security as a member of their party. Which, if I may remind you, were the only group of people who could get past the barriers of our castle like that fool wizard said."

"One of two groups of people, Integra." The Second Integra corrected. "The other being those bound by blood with vengeance in their hearts."

"Yes, and your team already lost a member to that half-orc."

"We'll get him back somehow. Even if we have to drag that green crime against nature with him." The Second Integra muttered. Out loud, she said, "We really shouldn't be fighting anyway, you know."

"Right you are!" The First Integra laughed softly. "In three days, we will be reunited with our third, and Intectus will be at full power once more. I just need to continue fooling Tara and her friends..."

"And I need to just need to keep fueling the fires of Clarisse and Collette's ****." The Second Integra replied with a nod. "See you on that day."

"As you." The First Integra replied as the two Integras headed back to their respective groups.

Olga snored loudly in her tent as Cevin waded into the water of the pond, a large goofy smile on his face as he began to wash up. That was absolutely amazing.

"Well, well, well!"

Cevin paused as he saw the group of female bandits stood at the water's edge, the leader smirked. Cevin gasped as he saw two more bandits throw his and Olga's clothes into a campfire.

"Here I was, on my way to yell at my braindead bodyguard for abandoning her position, when I found a skinny dipper in her pond." The Leader said, "Kinda cute though."

"Look I - EEK!" Cevin squealed as the five other bandits grabbed him by the arms and dragged him out of the water, throwing him onto the bank on his back. He whimpered as he heard the female bandits laughing at his three inches of shame.

"Aww, look at his wittle wee wee!"

"Ha! He's puny!"

"Water ain't cold, so it's not shrinkage!"

"My pinky is bigger than that!"

"So much for being a man, huh?!"

"I stand corrected. You ain't cute!" The Leader cackled loudly with her henchwomen... Before stopping as she found herself lifted up off the ground by Olga, the angry half-orc snarling as the other five women froze with fear.

"Why Boss Tiffany hurt Mate Cevin with mean words about Mate Cevin's perfect dong?" Olga growled, "And where Olga and Mate Cevin's clothes?"

"... Okay, how about you try this: You smell like trash, can I take you out?"

"I don't want to insult Talrach." Lucile said.

"Fair enough. Just switch the setup with 'I'm an assassin, and I'm here to...'." Tara said. At seeing Lucile's expression, Tara said, "Point taken. Oh! This is a classic where I'm from: Sorry to ask, but did you get hurt? From what? Why, from falling from heaven of course, because you're clearly an angel."

"Hmm... I like it!" Lucile said excitedly. "Do these really work, though?"

"Abby and I have been together since."

"Okay." Lucile began as she steadied herself, turning to face Talrach just as Emily and Helena approached. "Wish me luck!"

"Break a leg, Lucy!" Tara said as Lucile slowly made her way over to the tiefling...

How do things go for Lucile?
