Chapter 15 by dialectic dialectic

Where did he go?

Puzzling things out and an accidental reset

Nick stood outside, and wandered to a park. He felt seriously disoriented by how the day had gone so far, and he needed some place to clear his head.

It was clear that something was going on to make things different. Nothing that was happening made any sense at all. It was all pretty fun, but it made it difficult to think and to interact with people if he had no idea what was normal.

One thing he was certain of now was that people didn't seem to object to anything he did. Tearing the shirt of Colleen the waitress, groping Mary for much longer than usual, putting his hand into June's bra --- the last two being examples of something that Mary and June had said weren't normal, for anyone else at least.

From across the park, he heard a drunken homeless person loudly accost some woman, telling her that she looked like she wanted a bit of action. The woman kept on walking, but turned to call back "thanks", and give him a friendly wave. Nick felt his stomach turn in disgust.

Nick had enough. This was all too strange. "I wish that things were the way they were before," he muttered to himself, "that only the things that were normal yesterday were what were normal now. Things would be much easier."

He sat in sullen contemplation for a while, watching people go about their business, when he suddenly realised that there was a distinct lack of groping going on when women met with other people.

He sat silently, staying very still, as he watched around him. There seemed a distinct lack of strange behaviour going on.

Were things back to normal?

What does Nick do?
