There was a momentary disorientation as Reader gave his answer, and then he found himself in a dark room, the goddess and her props gone. No, not quite gone, he realised - this was clearly some kind of shrine to her. One wall was entirely taken up by a life-size marble statue carved in her likeness. And the other...

The other looked like a heavy black curtain, around the edges of which crept the only light in this small space. He could hear the bustle of a city on the other side.

Well, he'd explore it soon enough. First he wanted to get a look at his enhanced character sheet. He concentrated briefly, trying to find the right hook, and it appeared before him...

...Well, that wasn't too impressive. The genre-savvy perk was... interesting. Didn't feel any different, though he supposed it would be a huge advantage to have had such a matter-of-fact conversation with the goddess whose shrine he incarnated at. And in that context, being weak was to be expected - he must be this world's equivalent of a newborn. At least he didn't need to relearn basic motor skills.

Reader took a deep breath, and without further ado, pulled aside the curtain.
