Pushed too hard

You stride forth into the fields with confidence and haul goods around at great pace through the hot morning like it's a race. Your tan skin shines with sweat as your firm muscles ache under the high noon suns. Your movements get irreversibly slower as you push harder and harder, until you lift something just too heavy and fall backward into the mud, spilling your haul all around you. Your panting body refuses to stand as the other workers shake their heads and groan at you and the product you accidentally ruined. The owner takes some pity on you and pays you two days' wages for your half day's work, but your body will be complaining for several more days to come.
