What do you say?
Push her to fix it.
That’s when my carefully rehearsed script deviated from what I had intended. A reckless little voice—the same one that had whispered for me to allow this—failed to let Chloe down. *Let's see how far this goes I had wanted to see..* I hadn’t meant for it to be anything other than an observation, but the lure of witnessing Chloe’s reaction combined with a friends loyalty was surprisingly potent.
“No, really,” I insisted, my tone a touch too dramatic. "I saw someone pointing earlier - they must have noticed something." My fingers brushed against her arm, almost involuntarily guiding her towards the cover of some nearby bushes—a deliberate maneuver masked as concern. "It might be best if you just adjusted it… somewhere private.”
She laughed, a surprisingly carefree sound that grated on my nerves despite myself. “Oh, stop being so dramatic! It’s fine!" But she followed me behind the foliage nonetheless, disappearing from view to fuss with her top and bra strap.
I leaned against a nearby tree trunk, pretending to survey the scene but secretly scanning for any sign of onlookers—checking for people capturing those moments on their devices - not just cameras but also phones. The anticipation was surprisingly uncomfortable, like waiting for a storm to break. Guilt warred with an insidious thrill. She’s *so* fearless! And I am too worried… This is all so messed up.
A muffled gasp escaped the bushes. “Ugh, you were right!” Chloe's voice came from behind the greenery – a little less carefree than before. "My bra strap snapped completely - I bet they were wobbling in the wind when the Miami Heat went on!"
"Did someone SEE?" The frantic tremor of her voice surprised me more than it should have. A wave of guilt washed over me—genuine this time. *She actually cares.*
