Protect her idol group

(A/N: I know it's been a few months since my last update, but I got busy with other stuff and was more focused on other websites. I'm back and will try to be more consistent in the future.)

New rule: None of the members of Select-M can be harmed.

New rule: Sayaka Maizono has an app on her Monopad that allows her to view the status of every member of Select-M.

Once she finished writing those two rules, she checked her Monopad and saw that the app she asked for was created. She clicked on the app and her eyes widened in shock.

Fujioka, Ai: Alive

Katou, Hatsue: Alive

Inoue, Tsukiko: Alive

Maizono, Sayaka: Alive

Makati, Shun: Alive

Sayaka broke down in relief as she hugged Makoto happily. She couldn’t believe her luck that all of her friends managed to survive whatever it was that happened here. Makoto hugged her back with a blush as she sobbed tears of joy into his chest.

“They’re alive, all of them. My idol group is still here,” she said which made Makoto start to worry about his family, were they safe?

He raced to turn on his monopod and opened the app to check on his family.

Dad: Murdered

Komaru: Alive

Makoto: Alive

Mom: Murdered

Makoto felt a pit in his stomach. His parents were dead, and Komaru was on her own. He panicked before feeling Sayaka poke him in the arm with the eraser end of the pencil. Makoto facepalmed as he realized that he could undo their fate with ease.

Old rule: Makoto Naegi’s parents can not die of unnatural causes.

He sighed in relief as he turned to the app thinking that their status would change, but no, both parents remained with the Dane status. He looked back to the page he wrote on only to see the lead start magically erasing itself.

“Upupupupu!” came the shrill laugh of Monokuma, “Poor Makoto, it’s such a shame that your rule didn’t work.”

“Dammit! I hoped if the killing game was turned off you wouldn’t bother us!” Sayaka moaned as she looked at the smiling bear.

“Sorry to disappoint you two, but you should turn to the page where it says Rulebook Rules,” the bear said as Makoto flipped through the rulebook. There, written in pen, was a rule which sent a shock down Makoto’s spine.

Old Rule: Only the Ultimate Despair can use this book to revive the dead. This rule is voided if the Ultimate Despair is killed.

"What the? Ultimate Despair?" Makoto said shocked as he kept reading.

Old Rule: The Ultimate Despair's identity cannot be obtained by using the Rulebook.

Dear Makoto Naegi,

Makoto was shocked to see his name mentioned by the book, was this planned from the start?

If you are reading this message that means that you found this rulebook and have decided to use it to put a stop to the killing game. Good for you, but anyone who died before you could will be dead until you can find me, so sorry! You'll have to figure out who I am, and figure out how to convince me to bring them back to life, enjoy your school life until then. Have no fear though, I won't be far from Hope's Peak Academy.

Makoto looked at Sayaka nervously before deciding to take this challenge. To find the Ultimate Despair and bring back his parents.

"We should tell the others about this book," Sayaka said.

"Hmmm, should we do a group meeting or tell them one at a time?" Makoto asked.
