Prologue: Acquisition and Preparation

The subject was acquired from Scalari merchants, after capturing her ship in orbit of Orion-3-Beta. The subject had minor bounties for smuggling and tax evasion, which were sufficient to meet Scalari debt-bondage laws. After negotiation, The Far Arena purchased her debt-bond. After standard fees and processing, the debt totaled 2,250,000 Credits. The subject's previous names and crimes have been stricken from official records. Raela Farbond is officially a Bonded Gladiator.

Raela was in a state of cryostasis upon acquisition and was kept as such for three days before processing. Initial tests revealed no genemods, cybernetics, psionics, or magic. After some deliberation, Raela's aesthetic and arsenal were chosen. Raela will begin her career as an agile, feminine gladiator using a spear and shield. Board requested focusing on aesthetics, enhancing her natural dexterity and beauty without enhancing her strength or mental capacities.

Once delivered to my care, Raela was brought to operating temperature without waking her. I spent much of the first day repairing old injuries and rewiring her nervous system to better accept future implants and modifications. She had suffered extensive burn damage and blunt trauma without proper treatment, perhaps during her previous career or on the occasion of her capture. Once the initial treatments were finished, I installed the standard-issue F-Series pain limiter. No complications.

Board requested one additional implant, colloquially known as the "Crowd Pleaser." The small device produces, filters, and distributes neurochemicals based on atypical conditions. Specific settings have been documented and may be adjusted if necessary, but the goal is for the subject to be more combat-effective and positively motivated when the crowd views her in a favorable light. Long-term effects of the Crowd Pleaser in other subjects have shown that the users occasionally develop reckless streaks or exhibitionist tendencies, but that sort of behavior tends to produce good ratings, anyway. Will remotely monitor Raela's brain activity and neurochemistry to ensure no negative side effects, but the surgery was routine, so I expect no complications.

Final surgeries largely involved adjusting tendon lengths, increasing elasticity and flexibility, stimulating muscle growth in damaged regions, and performing cosmetic surgeries. Nothing out of the ordinary here, though she may require an adjustment period before she feels "at home" in her body again. The Crowd Pleaser should help there, too. Honestly, this one doesn't look like she'll amount to much more than fodder. Of course, after medical and equipment fees, her debt is up to 5,525,233, so she was only a minor investment, anyway. I hope the board will see fit to give me something a little more worthy of my time soon.
