Chapter 8 by JustSpirit JustSpirit

What's next?

Proceed with the partnership activities to learn more about this system you've created

With a blend of curiosity and trepidation about the world you've created, you decide to proceed with Kate, your apparent long-term intimate study partner. The cognitive dissonance is overwhelming—knowing you've fabricated this entire situation with a magical pencil while simultaneously experiencing it as if stepping into a role you've supposedly played for months.

Kate's fingers trail along your collar bone as she waits for your response. "Earth to Jamal," she says with a half-smile. "You're somewhere else today. Let me guess—preparing opening arguments for the mock trial?"

"Something like that," you manage, your voice sounding foreign to your own ears.

She pushes you gently onto the couch, the leather cool against your back. "Well, Professor Winters can have your brilliant legal mind in an hour. Right now, you're all mine."

With practiced movements that suggest a well-established routine, Kate straddles your lap, her weight familiar yet entirely new. The absurdity of the situation isn't lost on you—how a few scribbled words have created an entire institutional framework for sanctioned intimacy between law students.

"Level Three today?" she asks, reaching for the cabinet beside the couch. She retrieves a small bottle and squirts scented oil onto her palms, warming it between her fingers. "Or should we just go straight to Level Four? We haven't logged a Four since before midterms."

"What's the difference?" you ask before you can stop yourself.

Kate pauses, oil-slick hands hovering. "Very funny. Next you'll pretend you don't remember our partnership contract." Her expression shifts to momentary concern. "Wait, did you hit your head or something? You're acting weird."

"Just stressed," you say quickly. "Level Three sounds good."

This appears to be the right answer. Kate nods and begins applying the oil to your shoulders with strong, confident strokes. "You always did prefer Three. More intimate than Two but without all the paperwork of Four."

As her hands work down your chest, you glance at the tablet on the wall, noticing for the first time the detailed rubric under "Level Three Activities." Your created reality has furnished this system with remarkable specificity.

"Remember our first evaluation?" Kate murmurs, her lips brushing your ear as her hands continue their downward journey. "Professor Winters said we had 'promising physical chemistry but lacked sufficient verbal communication during stress relief sessions.'" She laughs softly. "As if anyone actually talks during these things."

You're struck by how the Rulebook has woven complete histories—memories of evaluations, inside jokes, preferences—into this fabricated relationship. Kate kisses you again, deeper this time, and your body responds with an enthusiasm that seems to bypass your ethical qualms entirely.

"There you are," she whispers against your mouth. "I was worried you were going to be somewhere else the whole time."

The next twenty minutes unfold in a surreal but undeniably pleasurable blur of skin, sighs, and synchronized movements that suggest your bodies have indeed done this many times before. Kate knows exactly how to touch you, where to press, when to slow down—knowledge that exists purely because you wrote it into existence with that magical pencil.

Afterward, as you both catch your breath, she reaches up to tap the tablet, logging the session with a few practiced motions. "Three-point-seven rating," she announces with professional satisfaction. "Not our personal best, but definitely above department average." She kisses your forehead with casual affection. "And we still have ten minutes to discuss Jimerson before Constitutional Law."

As she reaches for her notes, seemingly untroubled by her state of undress, you marvel at how completely the world has adapted to your capricious rule-making. The Rulebook sits in your bag, innocuously powerful, while reality itself continues to bend around the words you've written in it.
