What is it? Time travel, or something else?
Probably, Almost Certainly Time Travel
Sue Storm played the clip for Reed, Johnny, and Ben; they had, over the course of a career full of wardrobe malfunctions and invisibility fluctuations, seen her at least this naked multiple times. Mae sat in the back, with a visitor's badge over her blue dress, to provide historical context and expertise.
"The film stock points to the late 1880s," Mae said. "Which puts it among the first films ever made; the associated camera was only patented in 1888. Preservation is remarkable given the age. There are no clues to geography, but there is a ledger for a film with 'erotic content,' where someone paid 'S. Storm of New York City' $14 in 5 January 1889."
"So...time travel?" Ben Grimm said, covering his eyes as the dildo disappeared again. Johnny already had both eyes covered.
"It seems likely," Reed Richards agreed. "Sue doesn't look much older than she does right now, so the temporal event should happen soon."
"Joy," Sue Storm sighed.
"It must be some sort of message, a time capsule to get our attention," Reed mused. "We should travel back to 5 January 1889 and see if this time-displaced Sue needs rescue."
Sue sighed.
Mae leaned forward. "I don't know much about this whole time travel business, but wouldn't it be best to find Sue before she makes her little film?"
"Predestination paradox," Sue said grimly. "If I don't make the film, then there's no film to draw our attention. My future self might be trapped in the past."
"Ah," Mae said. She paused. "Does it have to be made in the past? Could we make it now and send it to the past?"
Reed Richards considered that. "It is possible. We would need to replicate the stock, the camera..."
His voice had that dreamy quality that showed he was already working on the problem in his head.
"I do not wish to make a dildo disappear right now," Sue Storm said firmly.
"Well, you gotta do it sometime," Ben Grimm said, grumbling.
"Let's just try and figure out what I was doing in 1889 besides making dirty movies," Sue Storm said, firmly.
"They have taken the bait," Doctor Doom noted.
"Of course she did," Mysterio said. "A trusted friend, introducing something so personal? How could she resist?"
"And what," Doom said. "Is the next part of your plan?"
"That," Mysterio said. "Depends on what they do."
