A note: I've been going back over some of my older chapters and noticed that as we get deeper in the story the chapters get longer. I think im gonna start trying to throw in shorter chapters every now and then as well just to keep me rolling and not waffling too much on some chapters because i feel like they need to be a certain length. When the chapter becomes too long i don't write it all in one sitting and i feel like my thoughts change every time i sit down so if you read a chapter that sounds like its going in 4 different directions but then ultimately goes nowhere you know what happened :)

You roll over and glance at the your phone, “9:00am crap! Oh wait never mind,” you roll back over and enjoy the sleep in.

After 30 or so more minutes of lounging around you grab your phone again. With no actual responsibilities today you figure you'd just lay about, catch up on any assignments and maybe even pump out that gym session you missed on Friday.

“Hmm AMA what happened as of last night.” There's a lot of info all popping up, apparently it was a good night.

You feel your stomach rumbling and decide its probably a good time to get out of bed and look for some breakfast. You move to get up when you hear your phone going off.

“Ah crap.” You know what’s coming before you even answer it just based on the name. You wince both externally and internally as you tap the green phone button.

“Well I guess that’s all a mother can ask. Now the important things when are you coming home for dinner, your sister and I have missed you and assume you are living on noodles like every other uni student. We’re worried you’re wasting away to nothing.”

“I am fine mum you don’t have to worry about my eating, Also there’s no way Miranda actually said that, she’s probably loving the fact that she’s there on her own.”

You stop for a second. How could she know? You immediately open up facebook and check Scarlett’s friends, nope she hasn’t somehow appeared there and there’s no crossover in their interests and… wait… fuck, you realise what’s happened and that you’ve now taken too long to give an answer. “No idea what’s you’re talking about mum.”

Unfortunately, you realised too late that your mother threw this in on purpose and you got baited. “You took way too long with that response, sorry sweetie you know I don’t like doing it but I know you won’t just come out and tell me things. Now tell me all about her and when will I meet her.”

“Excuse me, you will meet her never at this rate. Also you’re making me really regret talking to you about everything last year.”

“Honey, I’m your mother you should be able to talk to me about these things, also I knew you were into girls well before you told me. You think I don’t take any notice but I see everything. Anyhow you don’t have to tell me now but you will be bringing her to dinner in two weeks.”

“Mum no, I’ve been out on like 3 dates with her it’s way too soon to introduce parents. And you’ll make it so weird please don’t do this.”

“Someone is dating my daughter and I don’t know them… I won’t have it. You and her will be coming for dinner in two weeks and that’s that. It’s only awkward if you make it awkward. It'll be fun I promise I’ll even make your favourite.”

You groan, no amount of carbonara would going to make this okay, you didn’t even want to think about how you were going to bring this up to Scarlett. “Ughhhh, maybe. If she doesn’t call the whole thing off cause I’m moving too fast.”

“Perfect. I will see you at 6:00 o’clock. I love you sweetie.” You can hear the satisfaction in her voice as she says goodbye.

You wince knowing you were thoroughly beaten in this encounter by your mother and now you not only had to go home for dinner but take Scarlett with you. This would be a challenging situation, fortunately you had two weeks to address it so it wasn’t like it was your biggest concern.

After an hour of so of ‘excitement’ the rest of the day cruised along rather boringly. You study, eat, hit the gym and relax, a nice easy way to finish the week.
