The Price Farm

As you and Harmony walked the dirt road up to the familiar farmhouse Harmony smiling as your Grandmother Beth came running out arms open with a grand smile on her face. “Nathan Harmony and my favorite great grandson Anthony!” Your grandmother yelled as she began to dote on the three of you.

“Its good to be back grandma but unfortunately we are here for other reasons.” You said frowning. “That doesn’t sound good come we can talk in the kitchen.” Your grandmother said as she lead the way back to the house.

As the four of you entered the house and then the kitchen you noticed it was just her with your uncles, grandpa and Aunt completely absent. “Where is everyone else?” Harmony asked she little Anthony sat in her lap his back against his mother’s chest.

“Well Harmony’s Nathan’s uncles are out on a hunting trip and they should be back in a day or two, my husband is upstairs asleep and Sadie said she’ll be home this weekend now while I always appreciate your company why are you here?” Your grandmother said looking the three of you over.

“Well the short answer is that we found Harmony’s mom and we needed a place to lay low for now while we figure what’s wrong with her since there are people after her much like when we got married.” You replied gently grasping Harmony’s hand as you spoke.

Your grandmother sighed leaning back in her chair crossing her arms. “Only you could be a magnet for trouble Nathan just like Stephanie alright.” Your grandma said smiling as she stared in the distance.

“Don’t worry Nathan you’ll be safe here after all Sheriff Winters has been on guard ever since your wedding hiring more deputies and before you ask don’t worry the Princeton Sheriff’s department serves the people Ministry second so they won’t say anything if you have to tell them.” Your grandma said as stood up to grab a few plates.

“Thats good but I brought my own protection for Harmony’s mom we just need a place to keep her while we get a doctor to look her over.” You said rubbing Harmony’s hand. “She can stay in the barn it’s quiet and well insulated she’ll be fine there and I can get some bedding set up in there.” Your grandmother said as she placed slices of apple pie onto the plates. Now aside from that how long do I have to spend with my great grandson. Your grandmother said as she began gently pinching Anthony’s cheeks.

“I have a week now before my dueling starts Harmony has racked up quite a few vacation days this semester and can easily stay a week and still have days to spare.” You said handing Anthony over to your grandmother who began to squeal in delight as she held Anthony.

“Oh he gots both his parent’s eyes and look at that hair, boy he’ll be quite the looker when he’s older just like his parents he’ll have to fight the girls off with a stick just breathe!” Your grandma said as Anthony began to giggle.

“Yes my baby boy is the most handsome little guy on the planet!” Harmony spoke up as she rested her head on your shoulder. “I guess a week in the country wouldn’t be too bad and besides you have told me I need to relax more.”

“But won’t you miss school being here?” Your grandma spoke up. “No the school along with giving us certain breaks like winter break also give us days off based on grades, test scores and other things so Harmony will still have homework but she basically doesn’t have to show up for class. You replied as you stacked your plate and Harmony’s onto the table.

“Besides like I said before Harmony has all A’s and high test scores and quite a few days off from school she’ll be fine. Spending a week here will be good for her and Anthony besides maybe her mom would remember her. You said as you wrapped an arm around your wife.

“Who know maybe this will convince her that we should raise Anthony in the countryside like I want instead of in the city like she wants.” You said watching as Little Anthony clapped his little hands.

“Trust me deary the country is the best place to raise children they form strong family and community values, its safer and they have much more freedom here then in the cities.” Your grandma said as Anthony grasped her hand. “Besides it much cheaper to build a homestead here from scratch then to rent an apartment in the city.” Your grandma said before doting on little Anthony.

“Exactly what I told her grandma!” You exclaimed agreeing with her as you took little Anthony back into you hands. Your son only giggled in joy as he placed his hands on your face feeling up the black stubble on your face.
