A frozen Forest

You looked around and saw nothing but white. In every direction you looked you saw snow and could feel the cold frosty air beating you relentlessly. You could feel a fierce sadness and anger enveloping you as you felt it in the air. Your lungs cried out in pain as you began coughing. Your body burned as it fought against the relentless blizzard before the ever common mirror of yourself appeared in front of you.

“All that power at your finger tips and yet your still pathetic.” He said smiling sadistically. He then disappeared once more into the blinding white sea of snow swirling around you. The wind howling in your ears and then silence you looked around to see the blizzard gone revealing only white snowflakes and a frozen forest in front of you.

You awoke in a cold sweat breathing heavily. Looking to your left and right you took a deep breath as you saw Harmony sound asleep next to you her head on your chest her arms wrapped around your body as she laid asleep in bed. You looked to your right to see little Anthony sound asleep in his crib his little hands in a fist as he slept soundly snoring lightly.

Staring up at the ceiling you tried closing your eyes and going back to sleep only to find yourself unable to sleep. Quietly and carefully as you could you unwrapped Harmony’s arms from you before stepping outside to see a black night sky staring back at you. You were in Princeton in the local Inn as you didn’t want to bother your family not yet at least as you had a favor to ask of them and had to figure out a way to ask them. Right now Harmony’s mom was on board the train under the watchful eyes of a doctor and Pinkerton agents however you weren’t taking any chances.

You had the railway records be modified as if that train in particular had never been scheduled much less arrived in Princeton as to not arouse suspicion along with that you had instead of arriving at a station ordered it to arrive in one of your more discrete and lesser known train depots with only your most trusted members of staff being aware. Some of the agents had reported men in black hoods matching the descriptions of the men who attacked you the last time you were here tailing the train initially however this time you had a small private army but you had learned it was best not to tempt fate. You had then sent for decoy trains to confuse and misdirect the trains hopefully it did the trick.

Looking out at the night sky you wondered how you were gonna explain all of this to your folks much less convince them to help you could hide your mother-in-law until you could figure out what’s wrong with her. As you pondered these questions you also wondered what these dreams were about as lately you had been having dreams all in a frozen forest.

You hadn’t spoke with your void predecessors in a while perhaps they would know? No best not to bother with small matters such as dreams besides they were probably not happy since you whole deal with the Dark One in order to save Harmony as they had been against it by the looks of things. Maybe it would be best-

Your train of thought was cut short as you felt warm arms wrap around you as you felt Harmony rest her forehead on your back. “Can’t sleep?” She said as she drew circles with your fingers on your back. “No I can’t sleep maybe its the insomnia or maybe its everything going on in our lives.” You said looking out.

Harmony hummed as she lifted your right arm wrapping it around herself before speaking. “You know you can talk to me about these things right?” Harmony said smiling as she looked up at you. “Your right as aways hun.” You sighed shaking your head.

“I have been having dreams finding myself constantly in a frozen forest I don’t know the meaning of the dreams and with your mom being found and this group of dark wizards after us and all I just-“ Harmony by now was facing you having placed a single finger on your lips silencing you before you could ramble on.

“I never thought I would say this but Nathan Blackthorn you worry to much about tomorrow and not enough about today.” She said softly hugging her head against your chest. “But-“

“Look I’m scared too about everything for ten years I thought my mom was dead and yet here she is! Sick but alive and she’ll actually get the chance to hold her own grandson our little bundle of joy.” Harmony said.

“I know you worry but in the end what does it do for you besides stress you out and make you anxious hmm? Nothing!” Harmony said. “Your right as always.” you said wrapping Harmony in hug I guess things could be worse I need to stop worrying about tomorrow lest I lose today come on lets go back to bed.” you said leading Harmony by the hand. She only smiled getting under the covers before laying her head on your chest.

“Do you think my mom will get better one day?” You looked down stroking Harmony’s hair before replying. “Who knows however life magic is not my area of expertise thats yours but if this is some form of amnesia maybe you can remind her of who she is and who you are.” You said smiling.
