A development

You sat down in the RA office tired thankfully it was slow tonight with only one RA call all night and with most professors having exams this week things were quiet for the most part. As you looked around however Nook flew into the office and began to peck at the phone line cawing at you.

You nodded placing privacy and silencing seals before locking down the office completely. Then the phone line began to ring. This was the phone call you had waited for and dreaded at the same time. Swallowing your fear you sat up and picked up the phone hearing a man’s voice.

“Mr. BlackThorn?”

“Yes?” You replied.

“There’s been a development we need you to come down to our Wellington Branch as soon as possible.” The man said over the phone. “I’ll be there first thing tomorrow morning.” You said as your hands visibly shook. Then the phone went dead as you your back pressed against the chair before removing the seals and opening the office once more. Nook cawed at you once more. “I know Nook I know I plan to find her first then I’ll tell her.”

Nook cawed once more. “Yes I know I know I don’t plan on keeping secrets from her not if I value my marriage or my life for that matter.” You said rubbing your wedding ring. Nook cawed once more. “No I don’t think she’ll leave once she finds out if anything maybe she’ll finally get the closure she wants she thinks I don’t know but that bond of ours well lets say its gotten stronger than she probably realizes.” You said still rubbing your ring.

Sitting back in your chair you released a breath you had been holding in before sitting up. “I’ll go tonight Nook and I’ll bring her into the fold. Harmony deserves to know.” Nook only cawed once more before flying away. As you looked over your wedding ring you wondered what the Pinkertons had found and were scared.

As the clock winded down you filled out a writ of absence for you and Harmony for tomorrow as soon as you were done being on RA duty at 2:00am you were gone. As you began filling out the writs of absence your hand trembled as you filled it in before hastily finishing it. Your hand wouldn’t stop shaking with you being **** to hold your right hand with your left in an effort to try and stop it.

After a grueling few hours and a few phone calls you were finished with RA duties and soon made your way to your dorm room. Looking around you saw Harmony had fallen asleep with little Anthony in the bed the covers drawn over them. Gently you rubbed her arms. Harmony groggily looked up at you smiling kissing you before she spoke. “Whats wrong?” She said frowning as she saw your shaking hand.

“I umm well I-“ you sighed deeply we need to go to Wellington I have business there to today and I need you to come with me.” You said trying to stop your shaking hand. As you saw the gears begin to turn in Harmony’s head the shaking in your hand began to worsen as you tried stop it. You felt sweat began to fall from your head as subconscious mind began to drown your consciousness with fear and doubts. The urge to take a swig from your flask had never been worse.

“Alright just let me get Anthony ready.” As Harmony said those words the shaking and itch began to clam themselves like a switch had been flipped you were fine once more. “Okay the train will be here in a few minutes so let me hold him while you get him ready.” Harmony nodded and opened her mouth only for her close it again as began to pack Anthony’s baby bag. As you held your sleeping son you wondered what the Pinkertons had found.
