Round Three
As you stood across from the brown haired boy you studied him looking for any weaknesses or cracks in his armor. You noticed that unlike most students at the Academy he held a wooden staff in his hands rather then a wand.
As you waited for the official to signal the start of the match you figured today you would use some of your more nasty spells after all the bastard needed to pay especially after what he said about Harmony and you.
Then the match was on you quickly loaded your rifle firing a few rounds loading one quickly taking the offensive shooting focused fireballs at him. Jackson for his part stood stronger using a ward to block the fireballs before casting a lightning bolt towards you. Rolling to the side you narrowly dodged the lightning bolt before another one came barreling towards you.
You rolled again forming a stone barrier to give you cover as you pressed your back to the stone wall loaded rounds. As you looked out you saw mirror copies of Jackson all of them beginning to form their own lighting bolts and making more copies of himself as well.
Obviously he hoped to surround and outnumber you. Drawing out a spell card you burned it before a darkness began to quickly engulf the arena shrouding it in pure darkness. Of course Jackson tried shooting randomly in an attempt to find you but you weren’t finished yet and quickly thumbed through your deck before finding the card you were looking for.
Burning it quickly you were thankful that they cards were engraved with little bumps allowing you to feel which card was which even in the complete darkness. You smiled watching as Jackson tried dispelling the darkness first with radiant light spells and then by using dancing balls of fire in an attempt to illuminate the arena with no success. You heard the clatter of boots on stone and quickly burned yet another spell card before a loud crack could be heard as the sounds of stone cracking could be heard.
You heard the telltale sounds of metal hitting stone as your plan came to fruition under the cover of darkness as you heard Jackson angrily yell for you to come out. You smiled as you heard a metal bolt be pulled back before complete silence now you were ready. You looked out into the distance your eyes now having adjusted to the darkness waiting as you took aim and waited for Jackson to come to you.
Before long you saw a small group of small floating bright orange flames headed your way with copies of Jackson walking along staffs in hand as he formed a closer order line in an attempt to cover more ground little did he know that it would be his down fall as you began infusing water magic into your next round.
You looked to your right and to your left before before firing a single water round extinguishing one of the small flames before the sounds of machine gun fire could be heard. You heard Jackson scream like he had been murdered as his copies were gunned down by ghostly gunfire. However the darkness began dim as a bright light began form from across the arena. You quickly fired a few rounds down range towards the light source however it was too late as the darkness began to fade slowly revealing the arena once more.
You sighed loading a few more rounds as Jackson raised his own stone walls right now it was a stalemate with your ghostly world war one soldiers in their trenches pinning Jackson down killing his copies as fast as he could make them. The sounds of vickers machine guns firing could be heard as the spectators cheered as the duel ground to a halt. Drawing a few more rounds you began infusing your next rounds with Earth magic before you quickly shot a round each at the walls Jackson had for cover before watching as jagged lines of Earth tumbled toward the walls revealing a lone Jackson when the dust settled. Instantly ghostly gunfire began to focus in on Jackson as he used a ward to hold back the vast amounts of British ghostly gunfire pounding at his ward. Burning another spell card the gun fire periodically stopped as the troops began preparing for the worst. You quickly placed a powerful wind seal on the ground next to you as three black artillery rounds fell from the sky with yellow mustard gas trailing behind them as the arena became enveloped in mustard gas.
Thankfully magic medicine had created a cure for mustard gas poisoning a long time ago reversing the side effects such as blindness decades ago however it still hurt like a bitch. You watched as Jackson’s eyes widened before he used his other hand to use wind magic in an attempt to stop the mustard gas. While he was successful some managed to get through and caused him to begin coughing a fit as he struggled to maintain the ward against the gunfire.
Soon you waved your hand to the ghostly British troops before a loud command could be heard echoed throughout the trenches.
“FIX BAYONETS!!” Jackson began sweating by the looks of it as you saw him struggle to maintain the ward and wind magic only for him to stare in horror as the sound of loud whistle could be heard before ghost green world war one British soldiers in gas masks began to charge his position bayonets fixed. You saw him struggle to make up his mind before he began to use his free hand to cast lightning bolts at the charging as he coughed and coughed breathing the mustard gas before long however he collapsed his ward fading as he fell to the ground.
The official waited before lifting his flag signaling the end of the match and like that it was over you had won and by virtue of the victory had secured your place as a dueling contender for the Ash Forest Academy against the other schools.
