Chapter 5 by Jeriah Jeriah

What game would Evelyn like to play?

Poker, the more unusual sort!

"I always loved playing cards!" Evelyn replies to your question, whirling up from her chair and quickly seeking out an old, worn deck from somewhere among the many books littering the walls before you've got the chance to agree on a game. "Do you know poker? I love poker!"

"Well, yeah... I know poker..." You admit, watching fascinatedly as she nimbly shuffles the cards with as much expertise as any casino dealer. If she's as good at playing as she is at shuffling, then you're definitively in for a challenge you realize, but at the other hand you doubt her to have as much experience of actual gaming.

"I heard there's several variations..." She tells you, waiting with dealing the cards while you agree on the rules. "But I only know this one, where you get two trades and then play your hand. The winner of the last trick gets two bonus points, and the one with highest points win the hand!"

"Okay, I never tried that one..." You tell her, but nod in agreement as it seems like an easy enough version to learn. "I'd love to try it though, if you like?"

"Great!" She giggles happilly, then seem to consider something as her big eyes watches you thoughtfully for a moment. "It's no fun without something to play for though..."

"Well, I don't have much change with me..." You start jokingly, checking your pockets while trying to figure something that the girl could be interested in winning from you.

"How about clothes then?!" She interrupts you, her face shining up like she'd just had the best idea ever. Just one look into those exhilarated black eyes tells you that it's no use to even discuss the matter with her, and despite your growing discomfort about the whole deal you find yourself reluctantly nodding your agreement. Hopefully you'll be able to make her quit the game before any of you start getting out of your underwear...

Evelyn deals the cards with the same expert nimbleness as she shuffled them a few moments ago, and after the last trade you're sitting on a good two pairs that should give you that last trick at least, even if your opponent has a better hand. From the pouting look on the girl's childish face you can tell that she's the most likely to lose the first piece of clothing, maybe making her quickly grow tired of the game...

First, second and third hand?

More fun
