Security (Maya POV)

Maya sat down in the living room, looking around as the other girls made themselves comfortable. Normally she would want Sadie here too, but she wanted to do this before Josh and Kali had their meeting tomorrow. Sadie would understand, and Maya would talk to her privately about it. As de facto harem leader, she felt it her responsibility to keep everyone up to date.

Realizing that everyone was ready, Maya began.

“So, I got everyone here to kind of formalize something that we’ve been doing anyway, and to officially welcome Kali as a member of the family.”

Everyone smiles at Kali, who blushes. “Th-thank you. It’s a nice feeling, being accepted by such a wonderful group of people.”

Maya smiles and continues. “I wanted to talk to you all about Josh. He hasn’t said anything specific, but I think we can all tell he’s planning something big. And probably dangerous.”

Mutters and nods, and concerned looks. No one really knows what he’s planning, but they’re all worried. Maya had noticed him researching portals in his limited free time, so she knew it had to do with the spell he absorbed at Kali’s old base.

“Now, I don’t think it’s anything bad, but I want us to all agree to protect him to the best of our ability. I know we’re all doing that already, but I wanted to make it a general agreement. I can speak for myself by saying I couldn’t handle losing him.”

Everyone agrees, although Elys chuckles and says, “While I feel the sssame, not all of usss are baby crazy like you, Maya.”

Maya blushes. There’s just enough truth in that to cause her embarrassment. As the other girls giggle, she attempts to continue.

“Anyway! I want to extend that protection between us. Some of us are weaker than the others, no offense towards you. But even those of us with powers need backup sometimes. To that end, I used Josh’s auction account to buy us all these bracelets.”

Maya hands everyone a bracelet. A simple silver band with a small emerald set in it. Maya nods as everyone clasps it around their wrists.

“At a spoken command, these will put a message in the mind of everyone wearing one, telling you where the one in trouble is. Just say ‘emergency’ to activate it. I figure this is a good start to keep everyone safe.”

General agreement from the girls, and Maya smiles. This went really well, and she felt better knowing that they now had an alert system set up.
