Enjoying life

Thankfully it was Friday classes were over both Harmony and you were done with classes and you along with most of the school were zombies as the faculty and students alike settled into the next school year. Being new parents however had made you and Harmony more resilient to such exhaustion especially with how often Anthony kept the two of you awake.

As you walked through the forest you followed the worn path leading you through the forest before coming to a large clearing where the forest gave way to the large open plains. As you looked around you whistled a small tune before the air behind you began to shimmer as Harmony took off the invisibility cloak covering her and Anthony who was gurgling in delight in your girlfriend’s arms.

As you set down your backpack you soon unpacked a large picnic blanket and set it down on the grassy plains as Harmony took out a small picnic basket and soon began to sit down on the blanket with little Anthony joyfully gurgling as you set down you Winchester rifle and helped Harmony set up the small picnic.

As the three of you ate a small and quiet lunch you soon were full and settled for staring at the blue sky with little Anthony laying between Harmony and you. Your heart began to beat quickly as you thumbed the small box hidden in your sweater pocket. Harmony eventually turned to her side facing you as she held her hand out as little Anthony grasped at her finger with his tiny hand.

Harmony giggled as she watched Anthony try to pull her finger to his mouth before standing up and rubbing her nose into her son’s nose causing the infant to gurgle in happiness.

You smiled before quietly and quickly getting into position while Harmony had her back turned to you as she continued peppering Anthony kisses on his small face gurgling happily all the while saying in a baby voice. “Who’s my little man? You are! Yes you are now lets see what your father wa-“ Harmony’s voice caught in her throat as she held her newborn in her arms in shock as she saw you.

Harmony froze as she saw you on one knee with a small black box in your hands and a small silver ring within the box. “Harmony Ashcroft will you marry me?” You said almost robotically as you stared into your girlfriends brown eyes. Soon however Harmony began to move once again tears falling freely from her eyes before she sniffled and smiled. “Yes,Yes, you lazy bastard took you long enough!” Harmony shouted as you stood up and quickly closed the distance with her.

You shakily reached out taking her right hand before nervously placing the silver band on her finger as she held Anthony. Tears slowly began to fall from your eyes as you held Harmony’s hand as she locked eyes with you before the two of you locked lips briefly before little Anthony began to gurgle happily.

“Yes your right Anthony he did take his sweet time proposing he should have done it a long time ago.” Harmony said as she held her son. You only chuckled scratching the back of your head as Harmony began inspecting the silver band on her finger.

As you watched Harmony smile it made what you were gonna say next that much harder but she needed to know. “As much I would love to have a large wedding and tell everyone we can’t my crow has told me that my father has escaped.” You said grabbing Harmony’s attention instantly.

“Along with that there is evidence of this group known as the black hand seen trying to hunt me down if the info the headmaster got yesterday is accurate.” You said bringing Harmony worry as she tightened her grasp on her son.

“I hate to say it but we could wait for things to blow over or we could have a small discrete small civil ceremony its up to you.” Harmony only nodded her head before looking at her son before looking back at you replying. “The small ceremony works Nathan besides I was always raised on the idea that a child’s parents should be married so the sooner the better.” Harmony said with a smile. You nodded before seeing movement out of the corner of your eye.

Looking back at Harmony you gestured with your eyes as you moved back discretely back to your Winchester Rifle while Harmony played along. All the while you prepared a spell before shouldering your rifle and releasing a large fireball in the direction of the movement while Harmony stood behind you little Anthony in her arms.

A click could be heard as you loaded another round preparing another spell before you heard a twig snap and a streak of lighting shot from your rifle into the forest. As you racked another round you could hear coughing as the dust cleared revealing your Aunt Sadie coughing as she tried to swat away the brown dust filling the air.

“Jeez Aunt Sadie what are you doing out here I almost killed you don’t you know?” You said lowering your rifle as Harmony quickly covered herself and little Anthony in her invisibility cloak once more.

Aunt Sadie soon stopped coughing wiping dust off of her robes while speaking. “You can come out Harmony I know that your there.” Your Aunt Sadie said as Harmony took off the cloak standing behind you once more with little Anthony hidden behind your back.

“That still doesn’t explain why you were following us Aunt Sadie.” You said as you tried to take control of the situation. In response your Aunt Sadie only crossed her arms before tapping her foot. “Actually Nathan I think it’s you and Harmony that have some explaining to do.” Your Aunt Sadie as she stared you down.

You only stared her back down leading to an eerie tense stand-off before the silence was broken by the sounds of little Anthony gurgling. “Nathan why did I hear a baby gurgling just now?” Your Aunt Sadie said raising an eye brow.

You could feel Harmony’s grip on little Anthony tighten as your grip on your rifle tightened as well. As your Aunt slowly walked closer to you until she noticed your grip tighten on the rifle in your hand. Before she stopped and took a step back with both of her hands slowly raised in front of her.

“Nathan what’s going on honey? Maybe I can help?” Your Aunt Sadie said as you quickly looked to Harmony for guidance only to see fear in her eyes as well. Soon however your Aunt Sadie took a step forward before you reacted shouldering the rifle nervously. “Stay back.” You said nervously as you struggled to steady yourself.

In response your aunt froze seeing you aim the rifle in her general direction. “Nathan just put the gun down we can talk about this just you me and Harmony no one else has to know alright?” You looked to Harmony once more before looking back to your Aunt and speaking. “Just us right no one at school gets involved right?” Your aunt nodded her head before you lowered your rifle as your aunt lowered her hands.

“Where do I even begin?”

“The beginning is usually a good place.” Your aunt said as you sighed rubbing your head. “Well I guess it all started when Harmony came to my room to tell me that she was pregnant.”
