Chapter 10 by DaveSureLong
To move or not to move that is the question.
Staying Put
Deciding to side with the Enemy instead of the Enemy I don't; I decide we will stay put and tell the Architect to begin work on both options for the power supply and to build the Burner Boiler in the basement here in place of the Decaying Reactor. It bows and summons it's underlings before beginning to deconstruct the Reactor as a small swarm descends the stairs.
Heading back up the stairs I tell the Officer to put us on alert and to try to avoid using power until the new generators come online. Hypocritically I decide to head up stairs and summon a drone to my Workshop and look over Eve resting in a pod, interestingly there's dirt on the leather of her hands. Before I can question the dirt more the drone hisses into the room and sets down on the workshop table. Turning I begin my work on it.
I first begin by modifying it's construction equipment, changing the construction projectors range and putting in the preprogrammed Weapon in essence turning the device into a auto reloading Steam Powered Crossbow. Next I begin work on it's Optics changing the basic range finders and visual sensors for Telescoping Visual Sensors and Accurate Rangefinders as well as adding additional sensors including Mana Sensors, Thermal Imaging and Radiological Scanners equipped with a Radiation burst system for scanning of Nonthermal Invisible Targets or NITs. Next I improve it's Copter Blades to work for speed rather than power and attach them to more free floating bearings and gears enabling a greater speed and mobility. Finally I upgrade its Processor Coglines and Chassis making it lighter to improve it's speed even further, thusly finished with my work I order the Cogitant Scout to begin patrolling the sky's looking for threats in the area.
-150 Power 1397/1500
Now all there is to wait and learn of the surrounding area from the scout and wait for the Constructors to finish their work as well.
Which will finish first?
