Uryuu

"Hey, Shinigami."

You recognize the voice as one of Ichigo's friends, therefore making him one of Rukia's friends by default. Ishida Uryuu, a quincy and technically an enemy of shinigami, from what he remembers, though to those like his grandfather who remember the war, there was no such thing. You can remember Renji and Rukia talking about him and his sworn hatred towards everything shinigami, yet he went out of his way to take on Renji's **** to protect Rukia and even came to Soul Society for her sake.

You aren't the least bit interested in what he has to say, but you at least regard him with a stare before you insult him. You were raised with better manners and he is one you owe some gratitude towards. You can't be completely callous.

He holds a bit of a nerdy look to him, but he holds himself with pride and and has a calming air about him, so very different from Ichigo. There's a bag in his hand, much like that night, probably filled with sewing supplies like then as well. You've never worried about silly things like sewing, but he is an intriguing boy. If he hates you, he shouldn't have called to you in the first place.

"Have you business with me?"

He pushes his glasses up his nose, the light flashing and showing stunning blue eyes. You've always been attracted to those with pride--it seems no one will stand up to you and you know, no matter what, he'll treat you with both respect and distance. He will, undoubtedly, be one who would put up a fight, never submit completely, but can also show you the realm of uncertainty with careful precision.

"What are you doing wandering around? I didn't think shinigami taichou were allowed to wander the World of the Living without reason."

"It's none of your concern."

"When it concerns a shinigami, it always concerns a quincy."

You are not bothered by his challenge, though you know you should be. It's amusing and refreshing--even Renji stays back when you tell him to. The pleasant change ends there when the feeling of dread, emptiness and despair strikes, followed by the loud roar of a Hollow and the scream of a terrified soul.
