Gikongan (Soul Candy)

Your duty, as a shinigami taichou, is to protect the balance of souls. You know all about Quincies and their miserable history, the fact that they don't care for reason, that their stubborn pride is what has removed their race from this world.

Without hesitation, you pull out the gikongan you left Soul Society with, pop it in your mouth and separate from your gigai. You don't bother to look back, Senbonzakura unsheathed as you shunpo towards the location of the Hollow itself. You don't care if the Quincy is following or not, as long as the Hollow is taken care of and the soul is spared.

It's low-level, howling in its own anguish, the pain of emptiness eating away at it. Hollows were once souls, you know that, and they deserve peace as much as the souls who wander. You lift your sword and make one cut without ever releasing it, right through the hollow's mask, beheading it and absolving it of its sins after **** for a life in Soul Society.

You turn on the on the boy it was chasing, know that you've scared him enough with your entrance. He can't seem to pick himself up from the ground and his eyes are wide with awe and fear, a chain dangling from his chest.

"It's time to go," is all you say, feeling something in your expression soften against your will when he tenses visibly and tries to protest. "Soul Society awaits."

He stops and watches the end of your hilt connect with his forehead and as you pull away, the glowing symbol left behind has already prepared him for the next world. The moment he vanishes from your sight, you sheath Senbonzakura. When was the last time you did a konso? It's been too long...

It's then, you notice, that the Quincy hasn't arrived yet. It seems odd, to you, that he didn't fire an arrow, even, before you made your strike on the hollow. Even if you were faster, you're pretty sure that you'd have seen the tell sign of the blue arrow skating across the sky. With the hollow and spirit taken care of, you turn around and head back for your gigai. You really couldn't see yourself with the Quincy anyway.
