Chapter 103 by gibbio260

Back to the story

something wicked this way comes

*This chapter will be told from Michelle Simmons perspective*

"Thank you for joining me Michelle. I don't need to remind you how important this situation is. I don't understand how this could have happened. The app was supposed to be mine but for some reason I do not have it. I believe it has fallen into the hands of someone else at the university.”

“But how could that happen?”

“I don't know, clerical error perhaps? At this point it doesn't matter we need to find the person currently in possession of my app and take it back from them.”

“But didn't you say the apps cannot be taken from people. Also the apps are almost impossible to find, how do we even start?”

“Yes I did say that and I've been assured that there is a process for removing an app from someone once they have activated it. It is long and requires the complete submission of the person but I don't think that will be a problem.”

“Oh wow, I didn't know that what else do we need?”

“Nothing at this point, you just focus on finding this person.”

“But the apps are undetectable, how would I?”

“I can answer that as well. You will use your app. Yours is different to this other one but I believe when the two interact they will create some sort of anomaly. I can't say what but they will not work properly around each other. So yours allows you to observe the strength of a relationship between any two people therefore when you observe the person it won't function correctly.”

“Okay, but what if I can't find the person?”

“Michelle, bringing you into my circle of trust has come with many benefits the first of which being the affection observer app. I believe this app was instrumental in securing the enormous divorce settlement you got from your ex husband. Add to that all the fun you have had abusing your position as professor at my university. It would be a shame if you proved to be incompetent and all that disappeared...”

“Yes madame chancellor nobody wants that. I will get this task done.”

“Excellent, unfortunately I am not aware of what this app was supposed to do so I cannot tell you much about what you're looking for but you are a capable woman I know you'll manage.”

“Just as a final question Mam, why not just tell the company, I'm sure they have ways of tracing these things.”

“ARE YOU A FOOL GIRL!? Telling them I had simply lost what was supposed to be the most powerful of the apps created!? Can you imagine how incompetent that would make me look? No this must be solved in house and no reports of this can leak. Do you understand?”

“Y-Yes Mam.”

“Good you are dismissed.”

Michelle Simmons hurried out of the Chancellors office. She hated speaking to that woman, something about her just made her skin crawl. She looked down at her app, 'the affection observer' It had been a gift from the chancellor a year ago to congratulate her on her appointment to professor. The app was amazing it could show almost exactly the strength of a relationship between two people based on the certain colour of line between their profiles. Being able to keep an eye on this was how she had caught her husband in an affair with his secretary late last year and taken almost everything from him. A very satisfying result and now as a free woman smiled as she briefly thought on how she best used the app now.

Many teachers had gotten in trouble in the past blackmailing students into performing various acts of sexual servitude based on poor grades or the chance to succeed in a job. This commonly became unstuck when the students decide they either had nothing to lose anymore or simply left the campus and were no longer under the lecturers thumb. This was where the observer came in, she had found that people were far more pliable when instead of threatening them you threatened the person they cared about. As a result of this discovery she spent many an afternoon in her office grading papers with a young man or woman between her legs. Even more satisfying were the times that the relationships weren't even reciprocated. The foolish young students were being manipulated all for the protection of another person who didn't even care about them.

Just the thought of it was enough to drive her wild, or it would on a normal day. However today Chancellor Hengist had confirmed something that you had suspected for a while. She'd somehow lost the app. While this wasn't specifically her problem, the chancellor had just made it her problem and this wasn't a request that could just be ignored. The chancellor could still ruin her and would have no qualms about doing so. But what could she do? Apparently all she could do was just look for 'anomalies' in the app. In a university full of students this was going to be a problem.

She sighed and vowed she wouldn't let the situation get this best of her, but as she walked into a lecture theater full of 200 1st year students she groaned inwardly, this was going to be a struggle.
