In a tent with pissed women? What'd you think?

ANOTHER HOUR LATER:

John and Kyuala are sound asleep in one another arms as the wind continues to whistles throughout the woods.

Meanwhile, just a few inches away, Amilia is now the one with open eyes, unable to fall back into her sleep.

The cat-woman looks around the tent, grumpily thinking to herself, "I wish that goddamned rain would go away".

She closes her eyes once again, trying to will herself to sleep but it doesn't work so she sighs in frustration as she looks down at the sleeping fairy in front of her.

Amilia examines Lani, seeing her body gently move along with her breathing but something seems off, so Amilia leans over a little and sees that Lani's eyes are also open.

Amilia then chuckles internally before whispering, "So, can't sleep either huh?".

There's no response from the fairy but Amilia knows that she's awake so she whispers again, "C'mon wings, I know you're awake, it's rude to ignore people y'know?".

Amilia waits for a few seconds, listening out for an answer but there's nothing but quiet for a few seconds and as Amilia goes to give up, she hears a small whisper back saying, "I'm not ignoring you, i'm just, thinking".

Amilia grins at the fact she was right however she becomes curious about Lani's words so she then asks, "Alright, hit me, what're you thinking about?".

Lani is hesitant to respond however she eventually gets out, "It, doesn't matter, just something stupid, that's all".

Those words just shoot Amilia's curiosity even further, making her look at the fairy with intrigue as Amilia can guess exactly what Lani is thinking about, so in a smug sort of tone, she whispers, "Oh, you wouldn't happen to be thinking about a certain human flagpole and his angelic meeting, would you?".

Lani lets out a sharp yet quiet exhale, like a creeping enraged bull before bitterly responding, "No! I wasn't!".

Amilia is a little stunned yet her face is coated in smugness due to being correct, however the smugness is wiped away as she sees that Lani has now sat up, sporting a very, very, pissed expression on her face.

Lani, now with her knees to her chest, says, "Ugh, why wouldn't he tell me? I mean, he's supposed to be my companion, guides and companions are supposed to trust one another!".

Amilia now raises an eyebrow filled with concern as she says, "Well, how long have you known him?".

Lani then stutters before saying, "Uhh, well,, technically, only a couple of days".

Amilia wants to let out a laugh at the fairy's words yet she keeps herself composed as to not wake the others before saying, "Listen wings, guys can be, complicated, if he really did meet with an, angel, like a, actual, angel, then of course he'd be a little **** to talk about it y'know? Plus, this angel coulda told him to keep his trap shut, we'll only find out when he explains it to us".

Lani remains quiet, just taking in Amilia's words and sighs just a few short moments later.

"I suppose you're right, I guess-, i'm just, sort of, scared" Lani responds, leaving Amilia with another question.

"Scared of what? Him?" Amilia asks, almost concerned about the small being, that's when Lani answers back, "No, not of him, of the people out to get him, who may harm him".

Amilia goes back to being confused but then begins to understand, "Are you scared for him because he's your companion? Or?".

Lani doesn't immediately answer back which gives Amilia her answer, making her smile a little bit again though not in smugness this time. this time she smiles in, seemingly happiness for the winged woman.

Amilia then continues on, "Listen wings, I get it, or, I somewhat do, I think anyway, point is, no matter what, you won't let anything bad happen to him, and judging by the way Ky has her arms wrapped around him, safe to say that she's of the same mind".

Lani then quietly chuckles before asking, "Yeah, what's that about?" She asks, seemingly unknowing however she does in secret due to her earlier "exploits".

That's when Amilia says, "Ehh, I don't know, she's probably head over heels for him, if she hasn't put them on his shoulders already, although, I swear I heard her say 'husband' earlier, but, I was also dreaming of being railed on a table during a feast in a temple of gold, so, not exactly sure".

Lani cringes before saying, "Didn't need to know that last part".

Amilia lets out a soft chuckle, "Oh I know, but thought I should tell you anyway".

The duo let out a combined quiet chuckle but that's when Lani lies back down, feeling her eyes growing heavy with Amilia beginning to feel the same way.

Lani then looks at the cat before saying, "Thanks Amilia".

Amilia then smiles, "No problem".

Lani also lets out a smile, directed at Amilia as she says, "Good night Amilia".

"G'night wings" Amilia responds as the two finally drift off back to sleep.
