Decide against it
Katla decided that she didn't need a destroyer right this moment. The little bit of extra firepower would be nice but it didn't feel right to leave herself in the debt of someone she had just met. No matter how friendly she might seem to be. It could just have been an attempt to get into the newcomer's pants for all the Viking knew. Taking her mind off of the princess her thoughts turned to the mission at hand. It seemed perfect. Almost too perfect even, almost as if it had been made specifically for her. She hadn't gotten a chance to meet the Admirals yet, the only thing she knew about them was that one was a princess named Sheba. If they could realize the value of having a Viking on their side then they must not be all bad.
Katla pulled up the full mission profile.
Operation Mineral Glory. It could use a name change.
Enemy forces were able to move in unopposed. Seizing the sector designated as 2C11. No inhabitable areas then. Otherwise it would have a proper name. After being released as accorded their status as civilians the mining crews returned to Avalonian space. Authority forces seized the mineral stockpile which was 3 quarters of the way full by last estimation. Civilians were able to provide vague estimations of enemy formation.
Hulls: 6-7
Tonnage: None above light carrier
Army forces: Unlikely
It didn't sound so bad. Katla would have liked a bit more information but this was better than usual for a raid. She didn't know how much time she would have to move in. The minerals weren't anything extremely valuable by themselves but in their current quantity it came out to a fair bit of credits. Which reminded her.
Tabbing out she shifted her tabs to a Raid Law table, calculating out the variables. In all honesty, she could have just done it in her head but she wasn't sure if Avalon had negotiated a specific treaty with the Authority regarding how raids were allowed to work. Seeing that they hadn't meant it fell under Swiss law. International standard. That decided she got to work plugging in the details of the haul as reported by the civilians. The tablet helpfully doing all the math for her utilizing the market.
For the current market value of the minerals, this operation would only be a 6-month slavery to anyone captured. Not bad. If the value spiked during transit that would complicate things but with everything else on her mind the last thing she wanted to deal with was checking the markets. The current estimate would do just fine.
Alright. Next problem. When she got there she needed a way to take the stockpile away with her. Her ships simply didn't have the cargo capacity. That meant she either needed a contractor or a military vessel. A quick perusal gave her a few options.
