You place your hand on the Pedestal

You placed your hand on the pedestal immediately all the tomes began floating surrounded by a purple energy the library itself began to shake back and forth. The bookshelves began to crack and break snapping themselves apart when it stopped. From the floor emerged a single black book. The cover was dusty and yet it appeared to be brand new having never been opened.

“What did you-?” Roh'demus Said before he disappeared from sight the library fell away leaving you in the darkness alone with only the pedestal and the book that laid on top of it. It was dead silent with nothing to be seen or heard all around you. Looking back you could see you were alone with the book.

Inspecting the black book further you could see it was about the size a small novel with nothing written on the cover. You slowly open the first page before your mind went blank a rush if memories began to bombard your mind like a fright train, you could see and feel it all around you the void it was everywhere and anywhere. You looked around as the darkness began to give way to a grand image before you looked forward to see the event horizon of a black hole staring at you.

You could feel it the hunger the unlimited and insatiable hunger, your hands began to sweat as you stared into the endless abyss that was supposedly the void. Then you heard a whisper. “Embrace the void.” Suddenly you felt a burning sensation on the palm of your hand. Clutching it you fell to your knees the pain becoming intolerable as the burning continued before it stopped as suddenly as it had started.

Standing up you looked at your hand to see a single purple diamond in the palm of your hand. Standing up you looked again to find yourself alone in darkness with the book. Taking the book in your hand you closed your eyes before finding yourself back in your office. Looking over your palm once more you found the purple diamond still imprinted on the palm of your hand.

Looking back you found the book in your other hand. You didn’t feel different much lest do you remember anything new perhaps it didn’t work? No the void gave you something perhaps maybe you should open the book?

You slowly opened the book before you noticed instead standard English written in the book. You found it full of cryptic unknown symbols you had never seen before and yet what amazed you was that you could actually read them.

You read the first line. “The Voidwalker’s guide to Void Magic.” As you skimmed through pages you noticed that unlike the tome you found in the school library this gave more information on the void’s practical applications along with spells and advice regarding bloodline magic! Where as the other tome only gave theories, history and current knowledge of the void. Closing the book you tucked into your vest for safe keeping it fitting snuggly into your vest pocket. Then you heard a knock at the door.

“Nathan are you gonna spend the whole trip in there come on it’s time for lunch.” Harmony said from the other side if the door. Looking at the clock you noticed what felt like days had only transpired to about 10 minutes in the real world. You opened the door to see your beautiful girlfriend staring at you. “Alright sweetie I’m coming.” With a smile Harmony pecked you on the cheek before running back the passenger car.
