Making adjustments

You stared out the window of your train car watching the rolling green plains before the train began pulling into the station. Looking to your left you smiled at Harmony who sat next to you nervous as can be. Placing a hand on her own hands you spoke. “Don’t worry I will be you every step of the way okay?” Harmony managed a small smile before the train began braking to a halt.

Exiting the train you held Harmony’s hand as you made way to the offices of Weber and Schmidt Law Firm. Looking at Harmony one more time you smiled before the two of you entered the elevator up to the top floor.

The elevator ride was deathly quiet as the two of you rode the elevator before a ding alerted you that you had arrived. Stepping out you smiled at Harmony reassuring her before the two of you entered the office of Jame Weber where he, Hans Schmidt and two other men sat across from them in a conference room.

Entering James smiled gesturing for you and Harmony to sit before standing up and beginning to speak. “Thank you all for coming we are here to witness the signing of this rather important document correct Mr. Ashcroft?” Said man stood up he was a blond haired man who appeared to be in his late thirties before he spoke. “Yes lets get one with it shall we.” He said with authority before the man next to him took out a document before sliding it over to Hans Schmidt who began meticulously reading the document before reading out loud the last lines of the document. With the signature of the respective signatures of Silas and Harmony Ashcroft this document confirms that Silas Ashcroft withdraws any and all claim on Harmony Ashcroft as her father on any and all claims from this point forwards while for Harmony she withdraws and any and all claims on in being related, associated or any claims to the Ashcroft family fortune do both sides agree to the terms of this document?” Silas only muttered a simple yes while Harmony took a deep breathe before replying with a yes.

Sliding the document forward Silas signed the document before sliding it back to James who slid it to Harmony. Taking a pen Harmony signed the dotted line before sliding the document back to James who slid it back to the other man presumably Sila’s attorney.

“With this binding document Silas Ashcroft is no longer the legal father of Harmony Ashcroft and Harmony is no longer legally an Ashcroft.” The man said before shaking the hands of Hans and James before him and Silas left the building without saying a word.

You only sighed a breathe a relief before standing up to thank James and Hans for their help in this legal matter. “I just wanted to say thank you for your help in this Mr. Weber and I wanted to know if you could help me with something else.”

James lit up before speaking. “Certainly Nathan it was my pleasure how can I help?” Taking out a business plan from your vest you handed it to the now puzzled James Weber who handed it to Hans who began dissecting the pages of documents.

“I have made investments in the railroad, coal, timber and steel industries and have made huge profits in each of these industries however I wish to integrate them under one company and then begin establishing said company as well complete with all the needed departments and while I have learned how to run a small business I have no clue how to build a company much less a huge corporation or monopoly in this case and wanted some advice as I am sure you could have connections that could help me.” You stated

James smiled before speaking. “Well Nathan you are correct that we can assist you in establishing a legal department however your correct in that we know little in terms of business dealing however can refer you to Addington Business consulting as they were crucial in establishing the law firm we are today. “ James said as he took out a business card handing it to you. “Here this is Thomas Addington’s personal business card he can help set you up and get your company up and running.”

Hans then stood up before handing you your business plan speaking to you. “It is ambitious to say the least Mr. BlackThorn I know that James and I look forward in doing further business with you and wish you success in your endeavors in creating BlackThorn Industries.” The bald man said with a smile.

Satisfied with you bid the two lawyers farewell before you and Harmony boarded the elevator once more. Turn to Harmony you smiled at her before grasping her hand. “I guess it looks like I will be paying for your tuition from now on so I expect good grades from now sweetheart.” You said jokingly much to Harmony’s amusement.

As you made your way through the streets of Harmony rested her head on your shoulder arms locked as the two of you made your way to the Aaronson and Sons bank. Upon entering the bank Harmony looked up to see the bank full of customers with the tellers busy completely. You chuckled at seeing Harmony’s confused face before the two you walked up to the empty associate bank teller window. “Do you have an appointment with sir and madam.” The man said as he counted maxims by hand while also writing something down on a piece of paper.

In response you took out a piece of paper with a simple sigil before sliding it to the man. Stopping what he was doing the man smiled before speaking once again. “My apologies Mr. BlackThorn allow me to unlock the door.” Soon the door to the left opened which you and Harmony entered before the two of you followed the man to a back office opening it revealing a skinny man with a long greying beard sat behind a desk upon looking up he smiled before addressing you.

“Ahh Mr. BlackThorn I was not expecting you today come in come in how can I assist you?” The man said as you and Harmony sat in the two chairs in front of his desk. “Don’t worry about it Abram I wasn’t planning on stopping in today but thought I should take care it while I am here in Maxwell.”

Setting down the document Abram looked to you before speaking. “Ah I see how I can I assist you then Mr. BlackThorn?” In response you took out simple banking card handing it to him before speaking. “I need to arrange for a new account to be opened and connected to my tuition account with the academy as I will be paying for my girlfriend’s tuition at the academy now.”

Nodding Abram pressed a button before another man opened the dork behind you and Harmony. “I need a new account to be opened and then connected to this account before sending a memo over to Ash Forest Academy.” Abram said to the other man who quickly left to fulfill his task.

A few minutes later you and Harmony walked out of the bank having settled the latest issues life had thrown your way. “Come on lets go home so your not late for class.” You said teasing Harmony who only sighed. “Never before were you thankful that all of your classes were at night.
