They do.

Tanya stumbles as the two girls step into the cold and damp alley. MacKenzie grabs her friend's arm and holds her up. "Are you okay?" she asks.

"Yeah, just a weird dizzy spell. I'm fine, but are you sure we need to go this way?"

"It's just a short walk. Come on." McKenzie holds Tanya's arm as they walk through the alley. They pass a couple of homeless men but no women. They leer at the two girls as they pass and one licks his lips. McKenzie shivers. Finally, she sees a huddled, hooded body about halfway down the alley. Braided hair peeks out from under the hood. Maybe this is the woman Tanya mentioned. She tugs on Tanya's arm and as they get closer, it's clear to McKenzie that it is indeed an old woman dressed in worn gypsy clothes. "Excuse me," McKenzie calls out and the woman turns her face. She peers out from behind the hood. Her eyes fall on Tanya and she grins through silver teeth.

"Yes, dear?" she says turning her gaze toward McKenzie.

McKenzie isn't sure how to ask the question. She just knows this woman might have an answer to Tanya's dilemma. "Um, my friend, she came down this alley a week ago, and ever since she's been acting...funny." McKenzie furrows her brow. "All she can remember is that she thinks she met an old woman. Is that you? Tanya, is this her?"

Tanya nods her head. "Yes, it's coming back to me. She asked me for change and I refused."

The woman laughs. "You certainly did, sweetie. Did you come back to give me all of your money?"

Without missing a beat Tanya says "yes" and opens her wallet. She takes out a wad of cash and begins to extend it to the woman. McKenzie reaches out and snatches it before the woman can take it. The woman hisses at McKenzie.

"Wait, what did you do to her? Why does she do everything anyone says?"

The old woman crosses her arms. "If you give me that money and anything in your wallet, I'll explain."
