The party reaches the base of the Neverpeaks
Chapter 37: The Base of the Neverpeaks
After several days of travel, the mountains finally were close. I could hardly stop staring at them, tall and imposing things. There were several mountains clustered together to form an impassable barrier.
Amra pulled her horse to a stop, and dismounted.
“We’re about a mile from the base of the mountains, so we should camp here.” the elf suggested. The sun was sinking, admittedly.
“Alright, then.” I agreed. Fay, who was sitting with her arms around my waist and her tits against my back, slid off the horse, and I slid down, too.
We quickly set up a fire, and Lora and Sasha helped pass out sleeping rolls. I laid mine out, a blanket below and above you, threaded together by a sewing needle. Lora walked up to me, with a saucy smile on her face.
“We’re a roll short. Mind if I join you?” she gave a teasing smile.
“No, I’m not letting my brother be unfaithful to his wife with her sister.” Sasha clapped Lora on the shoulder and then, to my amazement, Sasha stripped off her armor and climbed into my sleeping roll. My amazement must have been visible because Sasha just gave me a playful smile. She slid an arm across me, and cuddled up against my chest. Sasha’s tits were squashed against me, and her body was flush with mine, and our lips were barely inches from each other’s.
“Sasha...?” I trailed off. She stroked my cheek. It was dark now, and no one could see it when Sasha closed the space between us to kiss me. I froze in place for long enough for Sasha to draw back, nervous clearly. Then I moved with sudden decisiveness, rolling so Sasha was pinned under me and I kissed her passionately. She mewled quietly before kissing me back, arms wrapping around me to pull me closer into her.
“Sis...” I groaned. She giggled.
“Shh... we don’t have the same DNA anymore, because of the character customizer. We’re only siblings in our heads.” Sasha purred.
“Oh, god.” I groaned. Sasha kissed me again and I felt myself grow hard as I possibly could. She gasped with delight. I pulled my lips off of hers, and moved them down to whisper in her ear.
“I spoke with the goddess Tita in Oceanspell. She made it seem like this quest would be incredibly dangerous. And that the Great Evil could kill us without us respawning.” I explained. Sasha gasped her surprise.
“So... if the worst happens, I want you to take care of Jess and the twins. Please.” I begged my sister. She grabbed my face with her hands, and I stared at her eyes, barely visible in the dark night, the orange light of the fire reflecting in her eyes.
“I will. Promise.” Sasha said, and then she kissed me again. We kissed for most of the night, cuddling and groping. Eventually, I fell asleep on my sister’s pillowy breasts while she stroked my hair.
———
In the morning, Amra shook me awake, and I murmured sleepily.
“Get up.” she insisted. I did, and Sasha was stirring, too. Amra took my hand and I bent to grab Kingmaker before she hauled me off to the horses.
“What are we doing?” I asked.
“Sealing the wards.” Amra said firmly. I climbed up onto one of the horses and Amra climbed up in front of me, and she set off at a gallop towards the mountains.
When Amra pulled us to a stop, we were feet from the base of the mountain. We both slid off, and Amra drew a knife and slashed open my shirt, ripping it to reveal the Mark of Tita.
“How’d you know it was there?” I asked her.
“That’s where the Mark always goes.” Amra shrugged. Amra instructed me to kneel and I did. Amra knelt opposite me, so her back was to the mountains. They seemed to exude terror and darkness, and I don’t know how Amra had the courage to turn her back on them.
She started to chant in elvin, placing a hand on the grass and the other on the Mark. I felt a burning sensation begin to grow in the spot she touched me, and it quickly became painful.
“Amra.” I wheezed. Amra’s face twisted with malice, and my heart sank.
“You’re the Great Evil.” I whispered.
“Yesss. The elf girl was weak. I invaded her mind in her sleep, and made her my puppet! And now, I shall be free!” Amra cackled. I tried to draw Kingmaker, but failed.
“You can’t free him! Amra, fight it!” I begged. The Mark was burning hot now, and the ground under Amra’s other hand was scorched.
“Fight it!” I begged. But it was too late. The Mark burst into flames and I cried out, but the Great Evil touched my temple and I screamed as bright light engulfed me.
———
I woke up in a world vastly different from the one I’d left. I looked around in horror. The grass was dead and a deep black color. The trees had sagged like a limp noodle, the leaves long gone. I looked up at the Neverpeaks and saw to my relief that the view was different. I was on the wrong side of the Neverpeaks... meaning that the outside world could still be safe. Maybe I hadn’t failed yet. The skin where the Mark had been was bright red, tender and burned, but otherwise I was unharmed.
I drew Kingmaker and stalked away from the mountains, in search of the Great Evil.
