Party at Chen House

“Are you sure about this?” Emmet looked hesitantly at Yoren’s dormitory, Chen House. “I feel like I should take this extra evening to study.”

Derek smiled, ruffling Emmet’s hair. “Don’t worry about it, Em. They’re happy! Wouldn’t be allowed otherwise. Let’s get some drinks.”

Emmet smiled. “Right.”

The party was in full swing when they entered the common room. Empty beer cups where strewn everywhere. Some groups had formed, to dance, play games or have really serious discussions...or what passed for really serious discussions at a student party. Emmet was mostly surprised at the different ages of those present. Nobody looked askew at any of the students who’d brought their moms. While Emmet had grown used to seeing young Alphas and their mothers together on campus, he still had to adjust for a moment to the idea of bringing your mom to a party. That’s their domain; we’d basically be trespassing. Think about it. Betas and lower Deltas, they’re always ‘on’. They always have to stand ready to serve. They need a place to relax, and that’s the food and drink prep station. Unwritten rules say we don’t go in and disturb them until later in the party when the Beta numbers dwindle as they either hook up or go to bed. Can’t expect service the entire time.”

“Right…” Emmet nodded. “Makes sense, I guess.”

“I like that one. Hey, you there! And your buddy!” Derek pointed at two guys seemingly without Alphas to attend.

“Sir?”

“You’re not taken right? You’re ours for the night. I’m Derek. This Delta Red here is Emmet. What are your names?”

“I’m Jerry, and this is Leonard.”
