Just keep on keeping on

Looking up at the moon's ever present stare, Jessica felt resolve consolidate in her gut once more. The perfect orb shone silver shedding light enough to navigate even without a torch.
One step led to the next. She could do this. The moist night air kept at bay by layers of insulating clothing. She walked with purpose, but not so fast to lose her breath. She passed an archway and her nose was hit with the smell of burnt flesh, and then she saw it, a large beast hung over a bonfire by some wood affixture. Upside down with its arms downward. All around it cajoled many many men, who all had a wild hairy look to them. Weapons still held in their hands as they congratulated themselves and made themselves merry. Standing on top of a carriage was a more resolute member, who carried a long rifle. She would have to pass behind him to keep going. And hopefully escape notice of the rest while at it. The gunsman had a healthy pallor to him at least.
She was unsure if she wanted their help though after how demanding the old man was. Though... the man also had a weapon and she had heard of hunters shrugging off even gunfire in their protective garb... maybe...
