Chapter 149 by zewesman zewesman

“I am definitely not getting paid enough for this,” Gabby said as she slumped down on a tree to catch her breath.

John and Tanya's Investigation

“My lord, we have a situation,” reported Tayna as she stood before John as he sat on his throne. After the Derpsitter interview, there was still some work to be done with the kingdom, so he returned to the throne room to deal with that. He was nearly done with his day’s work when Tanya burst through the doors and made her announcement.

“The Cabal are encroaching on our territory, especially the new abandoned Brighton Manor lands. The scouts stationed there report multiple Cabal seekers scouring the lands, most likely looking for anything the Warden missed as she and her kind fled the country,” Tanya told her king.

“Well, they won’t find anything of value there, that’s for sure. If we haven’t found anything after six months, they surely won’t have found anything for whatever short time they’ve been there,” John told his loyal servant. “Either way, we should investigate,” said John as he got out of his throne and made his way toward Tanya. “I don’t think I’ve gone on a mission with you yet, Tanya. Let’s fix that,” he said as he walked past her and towards the Transportation Room.

“Of course, my lord,” she said as she saluted him and quickly caught up to him but made sure to stay slightly behind him out of respect. The two quietly made their way to the Transportation Room and got to the Brighton Manor Crystal before either of them spoke.

“Not much of a talker, eh?” asked John as he touched the crystal and felt himself be transformed into a beam of pure light before being sent from one crystal to its paired crystal. His field of vision went from the ebony face of his partner to the forward camp of his troops in what could only be described as one of those powerpoint fade effects John had to use and see countless times in school. It was like the dissolve slide transition where everything just disappeared and then reappeared in a bunch of tiny dots as his eyes and brain refocused to bring his sight back. He was fortunate enough to see his latest ebony warrior re-materialize right in front of him. He made sure to enjoy the sight of her breasts before she would finish her teleportation and realize his gawking over her.

“I just don’t know what to talk to you about, sire,” replied the woman.

“Sir!” A nearby elf noticed the two transporting in and quickly came to meet them. “Captain Ro’shu is in the command base. He will be happy that you have come to deal with this infestation yourself,” reported the lithe, young elf.

“Thank you, private. Tanya and I will find out what these goons are up to and remove them,” John told the girl as she ushered them to follow her to the captain’s location. On the way, John enjoyed the elf girl’s finely toned ass from what he could only assume was a rigorous workout she did daily to stay in shape for her job.

“She does have a nice ass, doesn’t she, sir?” Tanya whispered to John. John looked at her with his face aghast. He certainly wasn’t expecting that from her. “I-I’m sorry sir! I thought I’d try to talk with you like you said and-” stammered Tanya, who was dying from embarrassment on the inside.

“It’s alright!” John whispered back to the panicking new member of his kingdom. “I just wasn’t expecting that from you,” John explained to her. “You always seem so formal and mission focused during our talks that I didn't think you cared about great asses or small talk,” John truthfully spoke to his companion.

“Ah, yeah, I get why you’d think that,” she told John as the two continued their walk. “I learned the hard way that not focusing on a mission can lead to disastrous results. So I swore to myself that I would only focus on the mission at hand and nothing else. I won’t have other people die because I got sloppy,” Tanya told her king with rock hard resolve in her voice.

“Here we are!” the cheerful elf said as she turned to John and Tanya and pointed to the building that stood in front of them.

“Thank you, private. You are dismissed,” John told the elf, who saluted him and then returned to her previous position before she noticed them.

“Shall we?” John asked as he motioned for Tanya to go into the room first.

“Of course, my liege,” Tanya said as she entered the building first. John swore she swayed her hips a bit more than normal just to tease him. Perhaps she’s more fun than I gave her credit for when she’s not on a mission. I definitely need to figure that out. John thought to himself as he followed the big black booty in front of him into the command center.

“King John! It is an honor that you would come all this way!” the elf commander said as he bowed to John.

“My kingdom is threatened, Captain Ro’shu, of course I would come to protect it,” John said as he shook the hand of the elf. “Princess Slyva has done the same numerous times, no?” pointed out The Gamer.

“I...ah...well yes, you are correct. Forgive my foolishness,” asked the captain.

“Consider it forgiven. Now what is the situation we have here?” asked John as he moved to look at the map table of the Brighton Estate. He noticed various small figures used to represent his forces and other forces that were attempting to gain access to the territory.

“Of course. As you can see, our Forward Base is here, where the manor once stood,” said the elf as he pointed to the miniature command center building at the center of the map. “We placed it here because of the theory that if any of the manor's secrets would remain, it would be where the manor once was since that’s how the Order accessed it. Currently we’ve had no luck finding anything of note. As you know, our forces are not large enough to patrol this estate as well as the elven lands. So we’ve been using a combination of sentry wards and fast acting scouts to see what tripped them.” As he spoke, the captain pointed to various totem looking figures that made a perimeter around the estate grounds. A magical line connected the various totems together while every so often what looked like tree forts dotted the map about halfway between the command center and the border.

“So this line represents the magical border we have around the estate and these are our scout bases. Looks like each one has been set so it can respond to multiple border breaches at different areas. Is this border in real time?” asked John as he studied the map.

“Yes, that is 100% accurate. Currently our scouts are tracking a group of Cabal members who breached here,” he pointed at the northwestern part of the map where John noticed two figures following behind four figures. “We have two scouts following four Cabal members. The area they entered borders their known territory in Springfield,” Captain Ro’shu informed his king.

“That is correct, although it seems that their territory is shrinking. Sometimes its by entire blocks a day by this new, unknown enemy. They have also been pushing into Black Velvet territory. Apparently Bloodfallen and Collide have both been either destroyed or went into hiding because none of their members have been seen. The Hunters of Artemis and the Wild Hunt have both been decimated and have left the city. Even the Forgotten Legion has left the city rather than deal with this threat,” explained John. The elf nodded as he listened to him speak.

“I see. So then, perhaps they are looking for artifacts to help them fight? Or maybe even new territory to fall back to until they can regain some of their own?” the elf hypothesized.

“Well, there’s only one way to find out,” John said as he turned and began for the exit. “Let’s go capture us a Cabal member,” John said as he left through the door.

“As you wish, my lord,” acknowledged Tanya as she followed her king. “We will only need one Cabal agent, what of the other three?” asked Tanya as she walked with John.

“Simple. We kill them,” John said as his eyes began to glow blue and his voice got deeper and had an echo to it.
