Learn what it can and escape as soon as possible.

It was not much of a choice. For now the goblin could do little more than listen, cooperate, and wait for an opportunity. It was no stranger to waiting, but before in the dungeon it could hardly think or want for anything. Now the creature was just starting to live its own life and was no longer mindlessly waiting.

The mage continued to question the goblin. Through their conversations he learned that the monsters of the dungeon didn't have any hierarchy. What was considered the boss and elites by adventures were just other defenders of the dungeon to the other mobs. All were equally valueless fodder to whatever controlled them all. Also the dungeon mobs did not eat any adventures that died within the dungeon. Rather the dungeon absorbed the foolish who attempted the challenge beyond their capabilities.

The mage stopped his inquiries and said, "I need to use the restroom. You should too eventually, and I don't want you stinking up the place. I still have a collar and leash from my old dog. If you behave, I can take you outside to relieve yourself. Don't even think of running off. You will probably just get yourself killed." The goblin didn't see that as a reason to not seek out freedom. It's life before could be thought of as little more than waiting to die. Trying to survive seemed like a decent step up.

In the meantime while waiting for its opportunity and after the man returned, they spoke some more. The mage asked what the goblin knew about the gods of the world and people that channel miracle magic. Although the monster knew nothing of the gods themselves, it knew some of their symbols and some of the magic that could be expected from such. What it knew boiled down to who could heal and therefore be a priority target.

The mage's brow furled and he said, "Hmm, I asked because I was curious if a monster could connect with a god and use their magic. But if you or even your kind specifically targeted healers to kill, then that likely doesn't leave you in good standing with certain gods. There are still plenty of gods that you could be in neutral or perhaps good standing. Now, what would be a safe and good fit." The man thought for a moment pacing around the room.

With a snap of his fingers he said, "Soteria might work. A goddess of safety and deliverance may be sympathetic to you and your kind. Being defenders and those who could use deliverance from the dungeon's control. Maybe if I teach you some prayers or rituals, you could do some small feat of magic. I'll go research that and be right back." The mage gathered some things and left.

After being told about this goddess, the goblin thought to itself how it was already freed from the dungeon and now simply wished to be set free from the cage. If it could pray to Soteria, it would be to escape the cage. But thinking about it the creature realized something. There must be others like the mage around. People who would view it as a monster. Something that should be killed. If it were to escape on its own, **** would not simply be probably but certainly. Although the goblin did not yet fear the prospect of ****, it did not like the certainty of it. With a thought it tried praying not to escape the cage, but for safety when it would try fleeing later.
