Chapter 80 by gibbio260

“I can’t wait.”

Only thing that stands in the way of dinner is 2 gruelling hours of statistics

The slowest two hours of your life crawls by, probably not helped by the fact you are checking your phone every few minutes but by the end of it your head feels like its about to burst. And then the professor decides that now is a good time to announce the assignment.

“It’s fucking maths, you don’t get assignments for a maths class, you get exams and I only have to worry about them in like the last week when they are scheduled. Ugh.” You flop down with an enormous sigh as you wait for the lady at the café to bring you the panini you ordered.

It was just a fancy sandwich but you felt like you had earned it, you’d been working hard in the gym and training for a couple weeks now and even though it might be a little soon to be seeing any actual results, you were feeling better and that was the main thing. Speaking of feeling better you noticed Chelsea walking by and the last week she had definitely been walking with a lightness about her that you hadn’t seen before. Maybe Adelaide was actually going to keep to her word and not harass her anymore, haha unlucky for her you were nowhere near done yet.

“Chels,” you decide to yell out, she turns and walks towards you.

“Oh hey Issy, How’s it going” She bounds over to you with all the pep a head cheerleader should have.

“I’m not too bad, but less about me you look like you are on top of the world. What’s changed and how can I get in on whatever it is?”

“Haha well I guess I'm just feeling a lot more positive about stuff, like a weight was lifted off my shoulders you know, Also you are part of whatever it is, you agreed to come out with me and Stacey this week, its not a party or anything but some of the cheerleaders are just getting together for some drinks at Melissa’s house.”

You have to hold back sinister smile, drunk cheerleaders sound perfect right about now. “Hmm, I'm not a cheerleader is it really gonna be okay if I show up?”

“Both Stace and I have spoke to the other girls it will only be like six of us and they said they were fine if you came, so ple- EEK!” She jumps as Stacey creeps up behind her and pokes her in the waist.

“Haha, you jumped. Also my ears were burning, you guys talking about me?”

“Hey Stacey, Chels was just telling me about drinks on Friday night.”

“Oh yeah, you said you’d come this time right? Also how good is it now that Chelsea isn’t moping around all the time, she’s actually fun again.”

Chelsea rolls her eyes and you smile “yeah, I like happy Chelsea a lot better, and oh I guess I could come, let me check my incredibly busy schedule.” You open a diary you have never actually used and of course it’s blank.

Stacey is one step ahead of you and from nowhere grabs a pen and writes Cheerleader time on the Friday afternoon section in big letters, “Perfect you’re locked in. Now you can join the rest of us in group pressuring Chelsea to get back into drinking.”

“Uh, just cause I'm feeling a little happier doesn’t mean I'm going go head first back into everything-“

She gets cut off by Stacey who ploughs on, “Ooo and while we are at it we need to set you up on a date and oh there’s so many other things…” She trails off clearly planning the rest of Stacey’s university future.

“Hang on the last guy you set me up with was terrible, I wanted to leave within 5 minutes, I do not trust your taste in men.”

“Aww, yeah you're right. My taste has been a bit average.”

You have a plethora of excellent ‘taste’ lines you could use here but you aren’t exactly sure how they would go down with Stacey, then you remember. “If you actually want to, I have a single guy friend who isn’t a total dick?”

“Ooo who is it? Would we know him?” Stacey is extremely interested in this new potential blind date.

“My best friend, his name’s Andrew, he is a first year like me so its unlikely you’ve heard of him.”

Stacey narrows her eyes and stares intently, like she’s hoping you will crack under the incredible pressure of her gaze. “Best friend aye? What’s the history between you two? Previously dated? Harbouring unrequited love? Hmmmmmmmm?”

You hold back a laugh and not just at what she’s proposing, as you open your mouth to talk you get cut off by Chelsea who seems to be keen to put this conversation to an end. “It doesn’t matter what their history is, I trust Issy wouldn't offer up a dud. I tell you what, I’ll think about it and let you know okay?”

“No worries, actually I do have a favour to ask now I think about it and don’t get excited or anything but I'm wondering if I could borrow a cheerleader uniform.”

Suddenly both their faces light up. “Oh my god, are you thinking of joining us?”

“Whoa, whoa lets not get ahead of ourselves here, as you both know I am committed to tennis I just wanted to see how it would look.”

“Hmm okay, but you better not wear it for anything other than cheerleading, these uniforms are sacred to us alright?” You smile at Stacey knowing full well that ever single cheerleader in history has likely worn their outfit into the bedroom.

“I promise.” You give them a size (not yours) and organise to grab it Friday.

You let the cheerleaders go on that note and head back to your room. There was still time before your big date, so you could go through what you were going to wear and maybe fit in a little bit of extra stats study... maybe.

Nothing gets me ready for a date like an hour of stats assignment
