Chapter 4 by grimbous grimbous

What awaits them in their cabin?

A Nice Room but Worrying Signs

The room is just like Aria imagined it would be. Though not much larger, it was far nicer than the hotel room they had been put up in these past two weeks. The attached bedroom and living area was one large area, the only other door in the room led to a small bathroom. Three big round windows along the far wall let in a pleasant amount of natural light. A big screen television dominated the left wall of the suite. The dark wood grain of the walls combined well with blacks, greys, and whites of the high quality furniture. Everything just oozed luxury.

The first thing to grab Aria's attention was the gorgeous silvery gown and sharp looking black tuxedo laid out on the huge bed. Just judging by eye the beautiful outfits looked about the right size for the couple. 'So that's why we were asked about our measurements.' Aria thinks, then nibbles her lip nervously as she recalls that she had been a wee bit...optimistic when she had provided hers. The dress, the design of which already showed more skin than any of her dresses at home, would likely be a bit on the snug side.

“Well, I guess we have something to wear to the gala.” She says. “Wow, this company thinks of everything.”

“Yeah.” Richard says, though he was distracted by another feature of the room. “Why is there an extra bed?”

“Oh.” Aria looks to the single bed built into wall just to the right of the main queen sized one. Much like they had seen in those capsule hotels in Tokyo when they went there years ago, a sliding shutter could provide some semblance of privacy for the occupant. It was currently mostly closed, only showing the pillow end of the bed. “Probably for a kid.” She says. “The suite's obviously designed for couples or small families.”

This is the second time in short order that Aria had brought up children. While he conceded it might just be his imagination, Richard swore that she seemed to be bringing up the topic of kids and family more and more lately. Was she starting to regret their decision not to have children? He shakes the thought from his head.

The pair take a look around and start to settle into what would be their room for the next three weeks, minus the short stays at the private resorts along the way. As Aria fawns over the exquisite gown the remote control for the television catches Richard's attention.

It was unlike any remote he'd ever seen. There was a red power button and below that a grid of black buttons five wide and fifteen tall numbered 1-75. No volume control, no buttons for options or inputs, nothing else. As he stands looking down at it there was something about that number that tickled the back of his brain. 75...75...of course. On the map he'd been provided it listed 75 rooms on the Orient Eclipse. What a strange coincidence.

He is just about to turn on the screen to look into this further when they hear someone at their door. A moment later there is the sound of a key card swipe and the lock clicks open.

What's next?
