Descent into Darkness 3

I waited in the dark for the two of them to return. Anxiety built in my chest being in the dark, bits of my nightmare seeped into my mind as I wondered how far the rope was and how long they would be gone. After a short time my eyes adjusted enough that I could see a rough outline of the paths ahead of me, there wasn’t much light down here but there was enough.

After several minutes I heard the echoing of Amelia’s voice, she sounded angry. They had been gone long enough now that they should be far enough in the mine that I couldn’t hear them, maybe they were already returning.

I waited a bit longer and then her voice echoed down one of the paths, “No!”

I didn’t wait this time, I slowly made my way down the path that I heard her voice echo down. It didn’t take long before I could hear their voices echoing again, they sounded labored. Were they in a fight? I tried to hurry, but in the dark I couldn’t move very fast without risking hurting myself and making the situation worse.

The path split and I listened for their voices, I could hear Kase’s grunts and followed them, but something seemed off about them. Mia’s words entered my mind. Were Amelia and Kase having sex while I was trapped down here?

As I got closer the labored voices became less of a vague echo and more clearly the moans and grunts of a couple in the throws of passion. I took another bend in the path and light came from another hole dug into the upper level and Amelia’s white swim shorts were laying on the ground.

“I don’t think I got any in you, but…” Kase said.

“Let’s go help Darx,” Amelia said after a few moments.

“Yeah, you clean up I’ll go grab the rope.”

I didn’t know what to say. I could tell them I was here, but… I couldn’t get myself to make any noise, so I turned back and made my way through the dark to where I started. Light appeared at the end of the passageway behind me and I hid around the corner of the split in the path and looked back. Kase walked up with his dick hanging out, picked up Amelia’s shorts and cleaned himself with them, a satisfied smile on his face.

After he left, I sat in place for a bit and their voices carried through the dark again.

“We need to leave, I need to get home and clean up.”

“Okay, we can leave, but you’re not going home.”

“Yes, I am.”

“When we get out of the mine, you tell Darx you can’t go straight home, make up any excuse you…”

I growled and hit the wall and ran off down the tunnel, my heart ached. I couldn’t bear to hear more. Amelia wouldn’t lie to me, would she? I would soon know for sure. I wasn’t as careful returning to where I was abandoned. I didn’t really care if I was hurt or not now.

“Darx?” Amelia called from somewhere ahead.

“Darx?!” She screamed, more ****. “Oh god Kase, I don’t see or hear him!”

“That pathetic loser…”

“I’m here, sorry,” I called up. “I thought I heard something down one of the paths and went to investigate.”

“You shouldn’t be running off like that,” Kase said. “You’re just making more trouble for us.”

“Yeah, sorry.”

They lowered the rope and pulled me up. Once I was safely back on the same level as them Amelia wrapped her arms around me and held me tight, I could smell Kase on her and fought to remain composed. Kase had a smug look on his face but shifted to a look of indifference once Amelia pulled away from me.

“I was worried, sorry it took us so long.”

“Yeah, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have lost my footing.”

“You wasted the time we had left in here, let us get out before it gets dark. I don’t want to have to baby sit you on the way back to the village as well,” Kase said.

Amelia tried holding onto me again as Kase led us out but I pushed her away again. I couldn’t stand having her touch me, not just because of what I had done with Mia, but now because I knew what she was doing with Kase. She had been so insistent that we tell Oliver about Emma and Fabe, but then she would keep me in the dark about her and Kase.

“I need to remain ready, just in case.”

“Y-yeah, sorry.” She whispered.

She stayed next to me, lost in thought. I began to argue with myself over what I had heard, maybe I hadn’t heard what I thought I did. But I did see Kase with her shorts… We didn’t encounter any monsters on the way out and when we reached the entrance I slowed and Amelia walked ahead a few steps. The back of her clothes were dirty and there was a dirt stain where something wet on her skirt had been pressed against the ground.

When she stopped and turned around to see what was slowing me down I could clearly see her blouse was missing a button and her cleavage was clearly exposed. I took a deep breath.

“You two encounter a monster? You okay?”

“No,” she shook her head. “There was no monster.”

“Oh, your clothes are damaged… What happened to them?”

She looked down and her face turned red.

“Oh, yes. T-there was a monster, I forgot about it. It wasn’t a big deal, it just surprised us.”

She lied to me. I nodded.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” I said, my voice a bit icier than I intended but she didn’t seem to notice.

“I have some errands I have to run, I’m sure you two can make it back without a problem?”

Amelia nodded, but I did and said nothing. Not that it mattered, Kase wasn’t paying any attention to me. He ran off and Amelia and I started toward the village. She walked next to me, lost in thought, and I didn’t want to talk to her so I didn’t bother asking her about it. If she wanted me to know she’d tell me, but Amelia didn’t want me to know anything.

When we reached the village entrance, I was about to tell her I was going to go visit Oliver. I needed someone to talk to, but before I could say anything she hugged me again. Kase’s scent overwhelmed me and I had to push her away.

“D-darx?” She sounded hurt.

“Sorry,” I said. “I guess I’m just on edge…”

“Oh…” she said then looked into the village. “Okay, well… I have to go visit Alice. Will you be home later so I can see you?”

“Yeah, I’m going there now to clean up and relax. Come on by when you have time.”

She steps in like she was going to hug me again but changed her direction and went toward Alice’s house. I turned down the road that would take me home and waited and watched. A few minutes later she came back down the road to Alice’s and turned toward Kase’s mansion.

Mia was right.

I sighed and went to the inn, but Oliver wasn’t there and his mother didn’t know when he would be returning.

What does Darx do next?
