Follow Abbie

Since she seemed to be the person to talk to Leanne decided it would be best to speak to Abbie again. She headed in the direction she saw her leaving in, trying not to run so as to draw attention to herself or scare any of the residents. As she exited the sitting area there was no sign of the young woman. She looked back to reception, but disturbing the cankerous receptionist who inhabited the front desk didn't sound like the most appealing idea.

Her only other option was to try the long, dark corridor leading off to the right. This didn't leave her with many options so she decided to head down there. She probably would have gone there next anyway.

It was very narrow and dimly lit. Most of the light was coming from a small window at the far end. There was also an odd smell filling the air. More so than the usual pungent odour you associate with old people. Leanne could see doors lining each side of the corridor, which she guessed were the rooms where the residents stayed. However there was still no sign of the young woman who had greeted her earlier.

As she continued walking down the tight corridor Leanne read the names next to each door. She began thinking about trying a door at random, either to hopefully find Abbie or just to give her someone to speak to, when she heard a voice. It came from one of the rooms so she went to investigate. When she got there she saw that the door had creaked slightly open. She waited outside listening for the voice while she wondered whether to enter. Before she could make a decision she heard it again.

"Okay, Mr. Rodgers. Here it is." It was Abbie's voice. She peered through the crack in the door but it was difficult to see anything in the gloom. Abbie sounded like she was busy with the resident but on the other hand maybe Leanne could help her and then she'd get something more interesting to do.
