Chapter 31 by TheSpectator TheSpectator

Go to the splashing or find Flora instead?

To the splashing

You can’t bring yourself to trust Flora - there’s just no way that could be her! It does, after all, go against what Kenji had told her just a while ago.

You turn around and start walking towards the other source of splashing. The further you are from Flora, the better you feel. You find that there is a voice coming from this side too. It’s small, much smaller than the other, but it draws you to it. Your senses seem to be much more...trusting.

“Hurry! Quick!” It says, tugging on your subconscious forward. The pain washes over with a numbness in a way that can’t be explained, it allows you to travel faster. Your vision starts to find shapes and paths, letting you get away from whoever that is behind you. You start hauling yourself towards the splashing. It is dark. So dark. You blindly fall over a few objects, but you **** yourself to get further from the second source of splashing behind you. Suddenly, you crash into something. No...wait...Someone?(!)

A sweet scent invades your sense of smell. You bury yourself in the unseen figure as it lifts and guides you through the darkness swiftly. You wrap yourself around the figure so tightly you think that you might break their bones.

"It's OK," she assures you. "You're going to be OK."

You're not sure why, but your eyes water. You grip the figure tighter, fully trusting them with your life. You want to ask who it is, but your words are lumped up in your throat. If it weren't the overwhelming sense of peace you were having right now, you would have probably burst out in tears. This sensation is odd, and by all means uncharacteristic of you, but you ignore it. You're in good hands right now, so there's no reason for you to question or to be afraid of anything that is happening.

For a brief moment, you feel yourself lifted from the floor. All the air escapes your lungs as you shoot through the floor (somehow unharmed) and brought outside. As you expected, it's night, but the moon above ignites the entire landscape in a dark blue hue. You fall to your knees and gasp for air. Your head is pounding your thoughts are spinning. The sense of peace is still with you, but the relief of being freed from the airport washes over you, allowing you to feel your very-human emotions again.

You feel a hand press against your back. "You had me worried for a moment," it's the same voice from before. Feminine, welcoming, caring. For some reason, you're scared to look at your savior. Despite your lack of answer and acknowledgment, it continues.

"I can't believe you almost captured by...by that thing down there." She sounds disgusted, but pleased that you're safe now. "I tried to heal you the best I could while you held onto me, but I'm afraid I'd do more harm than good if I were to do anymore for your body now."

The hand leaves you. A sense of panic shoots through you as you get the sense she's about to leave. "Wait...WAIT!" You turn around, but don't see the girl anywhere. The sense of hope lingers still, but you know whoever, or whatever saved you is no longer here. "Fuck."

You stretch, feeling a little sore, but you see that there is a pile of bags and a cardboard box with a note on top. In perfect cursive, you read the words: Return to the others. Don't return to the airport!! - A

Feeling even more confused now, you rub your head. "What the hell just happened?" You look around the night. The blue landscape looks so different than it did when you first arrived. You groan and shift legs. "Whoever saved me...Thanks..."

Return to the others
