Chapter 30 by TheSpectator TheSpectator

Black out

Accidents happen...?

Your eyes open...You think? Everything is still pitched in a super dark hue of blue. You also feel numb. You reach out into the dark in hopes of feeling something, but you are disappointed to find that you are grasping at nothing. Luckily, being this numb has allowed you step around in the pool of...something(?) that's surrounding you. From what you can tell, the liquids you are splashing around in is cold - which indicates either snow melt or rain from whatever season. You stretch, finding a slight hint of pain from your feet. You stop while sloshing around, coming to the conclusion that the numbness is covering a worse pain from what is pulsing at every two steps.

You bring your hand to your head, finding it wet and warm. "Uh-oh," you murmur. You are bleeding. To make matters even worse, you have no idea for how long. When this dawns on you, you realize you are extremely thirsty. When you look up again, all you see is the same color that surrounds you; black. You lean against a piece of metal, which feels like it's about to snap under your weight. Carefully, you rest and shake, you're cold - you always have been, but it's just now that you are starting to accept it. You are so dazed that you almost forget about the flare you brought with you. If you could find where you fell from perhaps you could send it flying? The ceiling wasn't going to resist much of an impact. Nearly 300 years of complete neglect really did a number on this place. You just had to find out where to...

Splash.

Someplace behind you, there's a splash! Mutated Bearracoonfoxcougarbeavermoosedeer?!? Your heart starts to race - you jerk upward, giving yourself whiplash and a massive headache. You almost fall over, but you catch yourself at the last moment, preventing any further accidents. More splashing, but this time it seems further in the opposite direction.

"Hello?" A voice calls out. It's familiar and small. It sounds like Flora!

"Flora? What the hell are you doing down here?!" You shout, more worried to have her see you this beat up because of your own undoing.

There's a giggle before a reply. "Hey! I was going to ask you same thing. Where are you? It's so dark!"

Her voice gave you relief for a moment, but your stomach churns when you hear her talk again. You step away and squint, nearly tripping again. She calls your name out, asking where you are. You hesitant. That...can't be Flora...? "I don't know where I am, I can't see anything. It's too dark."

Another a giggle. Your body reacts with goosebumps. "Keep talking, I think I'm getting close to you." Agile foot steps happen again, getting gradually closer. You try your best going backwards, but you keep tripping over in different places. You're now in so much pain it's almost unbearable. Her voice continues: Keep talking! I'm close to you, I think?

The splashing behind you again, but there's no voice emitting from that side. A sense of peace washes over you though when you think about running in that direction instead of listening to Flora. You start gnawing on your bottom lip - partly out of pain, partly out of confusion. The footsteps gets closer. A sound of frustration emits from the false-Flora. "I said keep talking! I'll never find you if you're this quiet. I need to get back to the other's they're worried about you."

Your eyes widen. There's no way they would sent Flora out on her own. You want to ask it a question, but you don't want to be caught. "There's something down here I think, hurry and help me so we can get out of here!!" It's voice, though small and familiar, is sending all the opposite vibes. You know better...Don't you? Maybe you're hurt more than you think, and this reaction you are having is actually just because of your head injury.

Splash, splash, splash.

The water behind you becomes more intense, and yet it seems to be the better choice.

What should I do?! WHAT SHOULD I DO?!

Go to the splashing or find Flora instead?
